Seems to me in todays world stock (especially when talking about racing) should be more like a 13.5, definitely slower than "open" but more appealing than a 17.5.
Stock is faster and cheaper to run than it has ever been. If anything, it's a little too fast. Making it faster would just make it closer to mod, where everyone can go as fast as they want. If stock gets much faster it'll dwindle and 1/2 of the racers won't go to mod, they'll just leave.

An Rc10 with modern tires gets around a lot better than you'd think.

Be curious if there is any benefit to running say the Pro2 style Tekin motor here for more torque?

I know out here, guys were running Pro4 style 540 motors in the 1/10 2wd mod class as for the short run up jumps on the indoor carpet track, it was quite useful. I think that castle motor was pretty common to use due to its punch in a few 1/10 2wd trucks.

If a similar facility got going, be very curious to try something like that in a wheeler.

Could be that Ty was just doing it to lower the wing. I was reading in the C4.2 thread about the AE drivers modding their wing mounts to lower the wing. If it mounts with two screws and there's room then it is feasible that Ty just put the mounts on upside down.

carbon inserts in the rear arms vs plastic inserts in the front arms...pretty cool tuning option.

Yes if you look at this photo from Nationals it is on in the typical configuration...Ty must have just flipped it to mount the wing lower.

it's a built in feature - you can run the mounts in a high or low wing configuration. high wing is more stable on the ground. low wing is more stable in the air during high wind conditions. it was very windy at the worlds coupled with some big jumps.

and.... each wing mount is held by an upper screw and a lower screw. you can adjust the wing angle by adding shims to one of the screw locations. you probably can't see it in the pictures by Ty has a 0.5mm shim on the lower screw to give the wing a little more angle of attack.
