I just picked up a secondhand zx 6.6, intending to use for stock 17.5 (australia). But it seems like the CD only has spur size of 78t?? Basically makes it impossible to get correct gearing if so. Can someone confirm if smaller spur gears are available for the centre diff?

I believe 78 is the lowest it will go. If it were me running 17.5 in that car I would run the slipper and ball diffs anyway. There will be lower rotating mass.

You can go lower. I have a 76t in mine.

76 is what I am running. That is the smallest you can go with the center gear diff.

OK So I am tired of the center diff leaking and I know it's because the center diff cap is plastic. I can see it warp. Is there any aluminum center diff covers that are out there?

I used a temporary gasket maker from Permatex. I think the number is 2.

The Kyosho center gear diff will seal and not leak if built property. The leaks that I’ve experienced were from me over filling it and it pressurizing or with me not sealing it properly after rebuilding it. I’ll reuse the large o-ring and gasket only if they’re in good condition but if not I’ll rebuilt mine using new gaskets, TF261-04 (Diff. Gasket Set). I also build my center gear diffs using the same sealant that the MP9 guys use XGS151 (Diff. Gear Seal Grease). It’s red in color and I use it on the large o-ring and the gasket.

If your case is warped then you’ll need to rebuild your center gear diff with a new case LA375-01 (Center Diff. Gear Case). Don’t over fill it and don’t over torque the screws for either the case halves or the spur gear and you should be good.

Default ZX6

Does anyone know if Tebos’s top plate for the ZX6.6 will work on the ZX6?

Yes, it will. JTP top plates workswith center diff / slipper in the back position on the ZX6.6. This is the default position on the ZX6. You will still need to trim down the plastic slipper center cap with a dremel to fit the top plates.

Just picked up a 4wd zx6.6 and started to build. Been reading some past posts on the car. Seems like some have had issues with blowing out the spur. Not sure what would cause that. What are some of the other issues this car may or may not have? Just trying to weed them out during the build before I put it on a track and learn the hard way. BTW, my track is medium size indoor with lots of grip.

Using the same spur I built the car with a year ago. Had no serious issues with diff leaks either. Make sure you have a good supply of front arms, some knuckles. Thats about all I've ever broke (from hitting stuff ). I run Mod on a high traction clay indoor surface.

Thank you for the response. I would imagine like any kit....if its built correctly things should run correctly. I will definitely have plenty supply of a-arms and the such.

Any rumours on a new car in the near future?Thinking about getting one...don't want to buy one and hearing there's a new car in the pipe.

I've not heard of any. Tebo ran 6.6 as Worlds with some new prototype optional parts, that all I've heard.

You can run the velvet aluminum outdrives with puck adapters on all three gear diffs and it is way lighter than the ball diffs and slipper.
