I'm thinking of getting the pin tool, but that doesn't explain why the pins work their way out after only ~8packs.

Only Tekno can answer that one

I tried blue thread lock on my first set & the pins still moved. I used a bit of CA glue this time.

Any heat issues?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think blue works for that. Green I think is the correct one for pins like this.

Yes, green is the gap filler. They have different compounds for different size gaps. Blue, purple and red are thread locking compounds.

Interesting, I've used red & blue, but hadn't realized they made a wicking thread lock.

TY for the heads up.

They also have retaining compounds. I use 680 a lot when pressing cartridge bearings into their bores on bicycles.

Hey guys
Very excited, just starting my ET48.3 build! I'm on step A-1 though and already have an issue haha. I cant work out what to do with the 1cm long bar of metal, as pictured on Step A-1, its the piece that is on the top left of the diagram. I don't see how it fits or where it goes?
Thanks in advance!
Matpat

It is the pin that goes through the hole in the outdrive... after you put the o-ring and washer on the outdrive shaft, slide the pin through the hole before putting the gear on.

Sofa King is correct!

Awesome stuff Dave, I was really glad to have found those videos and I just saved that playlist! I was having a bit of trouble shimming the rear diff until I realized that the plastic rim on the gearbox where the bearing/shim sits had become worn...either wear and tear or user error or a combination of both...can't really say but when I popped in a new gearbox (TKR5016B) and was able to shim it properly without any problems

Hey guys, just for giggles, here's a video of my ET48 on a backyard track in Ecuador!
I'm no real racer, just a basher out to have fun!

I tried Blockade 3.8's on my ET48. I had them on my SXXL, & they were not good, no traction & ballooning that caused the 2wd SXXL to tip over too often. They also felt quite heavy compared to the MT4's. On the ET48 they were much better, but not perfect. The traction (on dry grass) is about what I was looking for, less than the MT4's to prevent traction rolling. I was able to get the rear to come around when I wanted too, & stayed on its feet. The bad, they don't like the plastic BMX ramps at all. I thought it was a 2wd thing, but they lose traction immediately when hitting the ramps. I will be trying the SRC Terrain Crushers soon & will report back.
