I'm thinking of getting the pin tool, but that doesn't explain why the pins work their way out after only ~8packs.

I haven't had that happen in ~50 packs on mine, but if did happen to my Yeti XL on like the 3rd pack...very frustrating!

It's bound to happen eventually so I like the idea of having that tool to be able to fix, rather than replace the dog bones when it does..

I've been using a small socket & a vise to push the pin back in. The Mugen tool is out of stock most places.
Are there other pin tools other than Mugen & Hudy?

The Huddy tool is too expensive for me, but I just googled it and found that there is another product by innovative designs called the bone saver

I also see folks on rctech (Nitro section) discussing using a simple bicycle chain breaker tool. I never thought of that, and may actually already have one in teh house!

I don't mind spending $$ on quality tools, but everything a dog bone breaks I figure I'll just go with a new one rather than spend the ~$60 for the "real" tool!

They also felt quite heavy compared to the MT4's. On the ET48 they were much better, but not perfect. The traction (on dry grass) is about what I was looking for, less than the MT4's to prevent traction rolling. I was able to get the rear to come around when I wanted too, & stayed on its feet. The bad, they don't like the plastic BMX ramps at all. I thought it was a 2wd thing, but they lose traction immediately when hitting the ramps. I will be trying the SRC Terrain Crushers soon & will report back.

Here's my ET48 tire collection!

I should point out that I'm not real racer, just a basher. On my backyard track the humidity, or lack thereof, determiners everything..basically I find I want a super aggressive tire when its dry and loose, and less and less traction the more humidity and "grippy" the track is.

Every now and again I get a perfect day, about 24 hours after a good rain, when the track is nice and packed, but not muddy at all. Under those conditions I get some additional use out of the baldies, I use them as slicks ;)

Nice track jjhall.(pic is gone now?)
SRC Terrain Crushers on the ET48. They work well, good traction, no ramp slip. They feel like tires should, no ballooning. It felt much more stable at speed. A lot less wheelies, & I'm guessing they wont work well for flips(possible con for some). I did not try to flip, it felt under geared w/the smaller dia & lack of ballooning.

Those look like they'd be good to have on hand for just playing around in the neighborhood. I learned my lesson the hard way when it came to playing around with my truck around the house... race tires are a NO NO! LoL!

;) Right, you will go through racing tires super quick bashing around with them! That gets real expensive real fast!

Thanks for that! The track was a lot of work because I did it all by hand but now that it's done I think it was worth it! Seems like that pic is still there, I hope it doesn't disappear! The photo is in a Google+ album, seems like the easiest way for me to post pics here.

I like the looks of those tires...product description says there "belted". I guess that's why they don'e balloon out? (I wrap duct tape on the inside of my Yeti XL tires to prevent ballooning)

Your paint job is very nice BTW, those flames are sick! I'm right in the middle of my first attempt at flames on an RC8.2e body...I'm doing something much simpler though

The SRC's don't balloon at all that I could see. TY, but the flames aren't mine I bought the body from dsloomer on ebay.

I'm trying something new, an SMC 1900kv 42X69.1mm sensored motor. I also pulled the Hitec & replaced it w/a TH RC Gear Shop (Winking) DMC300 serco. This is the second of these servos I have the other in my Ascender works well, but the fit of these is quite bad. Both of the servos would not just drop in, I had to open the holes just to get one to fit in the Ascender. I just put these in so no impressions yet.

That's interesting that you soldered the bullet connectors right into the motor...what's the advantage over soldering the wires directly?

I had my wires long to reach the big TP Power motor, this allows me to use the existing length of wire & ability to switch back. Here's a pic showing the previous setup.

hi guys, i've been searching for a 1/8th scale truggy and finally made up my decision to go with the tekno ET48. my question is the difference between ET48 and the ET48.3, i know they sell an 48->48.3 basic upgrade kit, but other then what comes with the kit are there any other differences between the 2 version? chassis wise or any?

Thanks in advance =)
