Anyway, have any of you guys found any of the other brand plates more resistant to this? Got a big race coming in a week so I need to get something on order.
Thanks. The JC motor plate is milled in a honeycomb pattern; which is considerably more resistant to bending than the AE milled plates. http://www.jconcepts.net/store/index...roducts_id=714 |
Are there any non-cab-forward bodies that fit the B4.2? I'd imagine it has the same chassis length as the Worlds Kit (so the +8mm chassis). Were there any regular buggy bodies made for it or would I just have to get a normal chassis and do extra cutting? :(

I am having a flat spin issue with both my B4.2s, when I come into a corner and also while exiting, mostly at slower speeds, and if I drive it in harder I have a good push. Is there anyone else that has experience with this? I am running Super soft compounds front and rear.

I've never seen a bent plate. You running all the screws with blue lock tight? 550 motor lol? The Jconcepts plates seems tougher to me and also light weight, try that one!
Avid though was kind enough to send me a replacement free of charge and had me send in the damaged one for evaluation. |
Well that was nice of avid:):)

You'd be surprised how much it does happen not by crashing. Just landing wrong off a jump or a hard landing will do it to. And most of the time you can't tell by simply looking at it,you have to take it off the car and sit it on a flat surface and check it. I've had it happen to me a couple times and both times I noticed the car got a little louder,my car is real quiet so when it did get louder it caught my attention. Of course the last thing I did check was the motor plate, now it's the first!:p

The B5.1 is going to come with carbon fiber motor plate.

Basicly, I went back to the Kit set-up w/ M3 suburbs front and rear.... except, 32.5 front and 27.5 rear oils. I don't have any idea why I didn't do it when I got the car ( I bought it used). It came with a shaved u-brace, c-hubs, different springs, ??? shock oils. Its really amazing how good it handles now. track is med to high bite. Its a new layout so the sand is still working its way up but before, it was black grooved and just about everything worked. :sneaky: |

What treads are you running? What is the fastest local guy using? |

My car was also annoyingly loud and I thought it was rear hub bearings or transmission bearings but turns out it was the damn motor plate!

if motor plate is flat, the idler gear does wear out as well. i also replace my idler and diff gear whenever doing a full diff rebuild. also make sure you find a way to make the "out" direction on them, as just flipping one of them around can cause a car to be loud.
