I just put a new Jconcepts high clearance wing on my car last night. It has two sets of dimples. I used the standard cut line and mounted it in the front dimples(wing back). Is this the correct position our should I move it forward?

I'm use to the wings with only one set of dimples...lol

The car was good, TQ'd and won the A but am curious if I've mounted it correctly.

So exactly what do the hard or the b44 arms do for you I know what they do in theory but can you tell...

Are you sure you bought the high-clearance wing for the B4? The only ones I've seen with two sets of holes were for the TLR22.

Threw the package out without looking(dumb ass move). The car was hooked up. But then again, it's always hooked up. The dimples lined up perfectly.

Maybe I'll buy the correct set now to make sure. only 10 bucks...

Yup. And the newer ones are much thicker (durable) and include cool stickers for the sides

Through the miracle of modern science, I checked the mating uncut wing... and I have p/n 0123(The TLR wing). Anyways, it's a direct fit without alteration. It's amazing that as different as the "New" cars are, they seem to line up pretty well with our 15 year old relics...lol

I guess things haven't changed that much.

Quick question for you 4.2 guys, I stripped a ballstud in the left rear plastic turnbuckle on my 4.1/2 (old owner had the wrong size ball stud in there) and popped to the store today to get a replacement turn-buckle hub but they only had the FT aluminium one in stock, I got this one as I thought great time to upgrade, but they only had the 44.2 package which although is exactly the same hub it has a different top (plastic instead of carbon) will this work or do I need to source the carbon top for my 4.2?

The hub is the same for both cars, part number 9864 but the tops are different, part 9917 for the 4.2 and 9872 for the 44.2 (which is the one i have)

correction...

Those hubs will work fine. I would assume that the carbon tower you mentioned are the carbon "A" tower based on the part number. What you have now are the original plastics "A" and "B" towers.

I recently purchased the avid towers because they have both "A" and "C" holes in them(Around $12).

Plastic one will work just fine. It's what originally came on the .1.

Typically the "C" tower is used with a ground down U brace as mentioned on one the the first pages of this thread. I recently purchase the avid towers because they have both "A" and "C" holes in them(Around $12).
Thank you for the quick reply JW91, I am still learning so trying not to mod the car too much until I can feel the difference of changes to parts and understand how it all works, this will at least get me back on the track to race

should I use the A or B tops for the Hub, my 4.1 has had the losi big bore shock upgrade added so not sure what would suit, heck I'm not even sure what the difference between the A and B hub tops is.

Thanks Chizzle, it wasn't the composition i was concerned about, more the geometry as the 4.1 was a once piece hub were as this aluminium FT one is two piece and the 4.2 manual shows the carbon top

Default when did off road vet so complicated

I haven't raced off-road in several years, had an origional b4. Ran in 27 turn stock class on a dirt track. I have been running on road but all the set up options were giving me a head ache and I never could get comfortable, so I decided to give off road a try again.
I picked up a b4.2 off eBay and came here to start reading. After 200 or so pages I am starting to see off road has changed over the years. It looks like on road with bumps and jumps. Rock hard tracks, almost like concrete, carpet tracks,.sugar on dirt....
Enough complaining, now my question.
I am looking for a base set up for a back yard track to practice and get the feel for buggy again. I looked and and I could not find one for the surface I will be on.
Tight, small track on dirt, very loose sand, and some sections of packed dirt with a coating of loose sand on top. Will be useing calibers with stock foam on rear and soft ribs front, stock foams. Also have a set of bow ties on the way, they were the preferred tire back in the day.
Any suggestions?

Stock set up and get use to driving with the brake and some different tires depending on what some of your local guys are running I practically ran stock outdoor changes springs and camber links a bit but for the most part I didnt change anything just drove it oh also if your tracks really bumpy or blown up try higher ride heights

Ran this setup for my maiden b4.2 runs today (Loose, Bumpy track Neil Cragg Setup) It was damn good. This car is so simple to setup! So happy I went associated! The car is sloppy as all hell, but if I cringe and just slap the body on it the car is good. My inner machinist is crying (but he can shut up )

The car felt really nice about carrying corner speed, but at the same time the car responded really well to off power steering inputs. 17.5/Blinky/Center ESC/ Shorty/ Holeshots F-R

The B4.2 kit setup truly is decent everywhere! Just tires and driving and properly setup electronics!
