I disagree with that attitude.

One could go and research a product in the appropriate thread as I did when I was looking for a stock setup for my son's buggy and everything I read regarding the SP Citrix was all praise and wonders. I bought it and it ran GREEEEEAT!

For all of 3 runs before it went up in flames.

I don't think it's inappropriate to pose such questions to fellow Associated folks in a thread regarding Associated vehicles. Chances are many thousands of B4.2 owners have run the product(s) in question enough to provide a correct and insightful answer.

I could release an ESC tomorrow with a 24K gold housing and wiring that uses dilithium crystals to process electrical input to maximize engine power 40x greater than the nearest competitor, but someone can buy it only to have it either not perform to expectations or not last very long. Additionally, a product just might be all it's advertisements say it is, but it's weight and/or dimensions hinder it's potential and/or fit.

This is why these forums exist and so long as the questions being asked aren't ridiculously preposterous, there should be no reason for anyone to feel as though the person posing the question somehow did anything wrong.

This is how I have both my B4.2 and T4.1 wired up, though now my Transponder wire runs through the chassis with the servo wire.

The key is to strip just 1/16" off the end of your leads and then Tin the wire properly before soldering to their corresponding contact points.

You should definitely be a moderator!

I have been kicking around the idea of starting my own forum. I was going to start it through freeforum.com. My forum is going to be called something like rcnoob.freeforum.com (get it RC noob free forum). There will be a test to become a member, and it will be a no holds barred, fun place, for experts to exchange information, and talk smack. You know, what this place use to be. Lets see if this gets edited.

The thing is though, with as complex as an esc is, it is possible that you just got a faulty component out of the box. Especially on a cheaper model of electronics where the parts are cheaper because of more relaxed quality control.

As for your 24k esc, if you were smart, you would release pertinent information such as weight and size constraints so that people can figure out if it will work for them. I.E. the new esc dimensions are XYZ, and the esc I have now measures XYZ. Then you can use deductive reasoning to determine whether or not the new esc will work for your application.

Exactly. But say 10K people bough the unit and the frequency of any given issue is running upwards of say 8%, that should prove to be a warning sign for anyone considering purchasing a the product for themselves.

Either way, doesn't matter. There are enough of us here with a good amount of hands-on experience with the ESC to provide a better and more direct answer than in the SP forum as he questioning how it would fare with a B4.2 specifically.

The biggest thing, for me, about asking questions about other things in the B4.2 thread, as already stated, is the less likely biased answers that are given. In the speed passion thread people might have affiliations or sponsorships or be fanboys whereas in this thread the responses would be more unbiased. My $.02

+1 the Incubus. Nobody is holding a gun to anyone else's head to answer. If the question is that bad, no one will. The bad attitudes are part of what drives people away from this hobby.

Beautiful job but I'd have drilled slots in the chassis to pass your wiring through onto the rx.

Quick question. Building a new b4.2 for myself. Which are the correct the shock cups? I don't see any markings on them to denote the 5mm offset.

5mm are the tallest ones

Negative

The 5mm cups are the middle ones. 0, 5, 9mm offsets

Thanks. I never thought about drilling slots. I'll do them when I do the rebuild for the fall/winter indoor season.

Expandable braided sleeving. It was left over from my pc building days. I bought it here: https://www.parts-express.com/cat/ex...-sleeving/2193 I'm sure you can get it in shorter leghts at other electronic supply houses.
