Why is Cavalary not running the Alum. Hinge pin Brace?

Wildcat1971 01-14-2013 12:37 PM

Rebar fronts and handlebar rears. Though they look slightly different than the spy shots from December.

What rear tires are those? AKA? Kind of look like Brocodes but not quite.

Yeah looked at those tires again and they don't look like rebars, the fronts look like rebars though.

You dont need to balance your battery every time you charge. I always balance them at home the night before the race and then just charge them the rest of te day.

Yeah they look a little different than what I remember seeing. Actually looking at my rebars front and those pictured don't look like them either but I does look like that is an AKA logo on Cavs front tires.

Compare his fronts to a picture of JC Barcode fronts

Yep they look more like my JC Barcodes but wondering know if they are something AKA is working on. :sneaky:
Can't tell from the pic posted but the logo on the front tires looks more like my AKAs than my JConcepts. Could just be tired eyes too ;)

Wildcat1971 01-14-2013 12:54 PM

The second car, definitely has bar Codes. It is hard to see if cavs tires have the little round knobby between the bars. But you are right, they are definitely not rebars.

2 Questions

fasteners: Standard or Metric?

Wheels: Can I share wheels with my 22 or need to start a new B4.2 collection? I know they are all 12 mm hex, but are the offset and other dimensions compatible?

Thanks!

Rears are the same offset. Fronts are different. Standard fasteners.

most of the guys that I saw testing the new AKA's were using the Handlebar rears and Barcode fronts. Don't quote me on this as fact, but I think the AKA fronts weren't ready yet. Either way, the AKA guys are really stepping up their tire game for 10th scale and I would expect us to see something new from them soon enough.

About Cav not running the alum hinge pin brace, some guys don't because it adds a little bit of weight. I know I typically do not run them either. It's just another tuning option. Did I notice a difference? nope.... just never changed it back.

Both front and rear tires on Cav's car is the AKA Handlebars. The fronts are very similar to barcodes except for a few lil nubs.

Balancing is something you need to do when you regularly drain the battery significantly and every once in a while otherwise. If you balance charge and then just cycle the battery without draining it so far that the cell capacity differences are exposed, then simply charging is fine, especially when you don't charge right to 100% capacity. I tend to balance once a week and otherwise use the "fast charge" method which cuts off at .5 amp. It is far simply to just clip my alligators on the terminals and charge than hook all that balancing stuff up each time when I'm in a hurry. This puts my cells around 4.19 at standing. Remember that the actual lipo limit is 4.23 to 4.25 per cell.
