Outdrives shot at 6-8 weeks you must run every day.

I have never shot a pin with no setscrew and just a drop of ca on the clip.

Can wear out a set over & over same time frame ..

I race

Buggy 3 days a week ...
4W 1 day each week
Sc4x4 2 days each week

not including practice

Building Ae factory driver Scott Browns B4.2 today , will be using the grub screw on the CVA ..;)
Scott is attending and using the ride at Utah's April Fools race ...

Comming from the guy who just a week or so ago was saying he was pushing the ceramic diff balls to save the racer money. Now he gets a hint at a way to reduce drive train wear....saving money and its a responce of my way or the highway as always.

I could care less how you are building a car for a team driver who dosent pay for eveything. I have factory team drivers in my area who build with no setscrews.

You think a DNF is a good performance ?

Ill ask Scott if he wish's not to use the grub . Don't believe he will not use though...

I have run then with no setscrew since the clips came out on sc 4wd and buggy. When you put a dab of ca on the clip they can not rotate and will not spit the pin.

Can't tell how many times I have found the clip shifted and exposing the pin to air ...

The grub screw serves as back up and will not chip off like glue does..

If Ae makes a improved clip like the Sc10 4x4 uses on the front CVA's ?

would not use a grub ...

No one wants to hear you and another member bickering back and forth about a setscrew...guess what wild....i use both the setscrew and clip on all my cars and have never had a problem. Maybe this guy has never used the setscrew and has never had a problem, maybe one day he will...maybe he wont. It doesnt matter, its not your car...it's his. So quit bickering about it.

For those running set screws in the rear hubs:
- running 1 setscrew or 2?
- installed on the bottom, or on the inside (small bearing side)?
- are the hingepins more likely to bend?

I bought a SC10 from a team driver, and converted it to a T4.1. He put set-screws in the rear hubs, and they work very well.

1 screw in the center, directly at 6 o'clock in the hub. Take a dremel and shave the hinge pin down so the screw has a flat surface to grab.

Haven't had a single issue with them yet. Little dab of blue loctite every time I rebuild.

Im not complaining and your not discussing, your arguing why your way is better. It doesnt matter. He can do it the way he chooses and you can do it the way you choose. It doesnt need to take up a complete page of this thread.

To set screw, or not to set screw... That is the question...
Either good or bad, to each his own... I myself will not set screw. But I actually have to get my kit first though! :(

But really from what I have heard this is a great ride however it is built!
So all is well!

It's one thing to discuss, its another to shove your 'recommendations' down the throats of others as the only way something is to be done.
