You don't really need to do anything with the pin. Just drill and tap the hub. You are just trying to force the pin against a quadrant of the hole in the hub. Works like a charm. I've seen them with two set screws but really only one is needed.

they fit fine, and i solved the problem. the servo saver arm is kinda thick, so it hits the center support post before all the steering throw is used. so i just sanded down that side of the saver and now i have full throw in both directions.
got an Avid steering rack on the way anyways.

normally i would agree with this comment, even tho it is more or less directed at me. but in this case i checked the manual and the manual doesn't list an overall length. i posted a question so that i could get an answer, and i still need that answer so i can sort out the steering rack and be done with it.
