A hobbywing driver i race with uses the v3.1 in his sct410 as well. Looks nice, but i'm not completely sold on 1/10 hobbywing esc's with my experiences. I'd rather wait for the expected release of the v2 8th scale esc's hobbywing is supposed to come out with.

Yup that's what I did. Cut it out on the sides to clear air control guards and put Velcro front and rear. Left it clear and cut out windows and a spot above the motor and replaced with fine screen. Everything stays cool and clean.

I've run both. The steel is definitely bad a$$--obviously super durable and LOUD!!!
I went back to the black composite for lower rotating mass--but both are good!

A lot of drivers at our club use the Orion R10 pro and the 4000kv HW motor with success. I can't get the same balance of torque and speed with my HW SCT-Pro. I would imagine the v3.1 has similar benefits of running turbo/boost.

I'm using the TeknoRC air control guards..Do you think that velcro would still work with the EB48 body?

Do you think you could post up some pics of what it looks like?

my initially impression when looking at the body I have and the air guards is that it would be some creative trimming to use velcro.

My v2.1 went up in smoke before even getting to drive the thing. Brand new esc.. wtf...

I'm still new to this.. When you say lower rotating mass what do you mean? For example what's the major difference if your setup is a16t/steel spur vs 16t/ composite spur? Outside of sound is the performance the same?

Since it is made out of steel, it is heavier. It will put a little more load on the setup. How much? I'm not exactly sure.

Slight difference with the composite. It's lighter. Same idea as putting lighter wheels on your real ride, less rotating mass (weight). Takes less to get it going.

It means lowering the overall weight of the drive-line. Which would include, diff, spur, pinion gears and the drive shafts as well.

That's what I was thinking too. I have placed my EB48 body on top of the SCT410 with the Tekno air guards, and with a bit of trimming and velcro, you would be golden.

Hobbywing thread would be better but I wouldn't use that esc on an SC necessarily. Yeah it's rated 120A but the heat dissipation is much worse than on the 3.1. Post your settings and used motor/pinion maybe we can troubleshoot.
