Sorry, yeah it sits high. Apparently he couldn't get safe maximum throw with it.
This looks promising too.

It also looks like you can slide your pinion towards the back of the car a little bit to get more tooth engagement.

Yea definately too loose or too far from spur and would strip spur gear. Like mentioned you should slide the Pinion gear out so the teeth are even or parallel, so slide pinion towards back of car.

If you just barely loosen the screws and nudge it forwad to engage the spur a little better you should be good. You want just a little play or able to rock the pinion between teeth a tad.

When setting gear mesh, I typically just fully seat or mesh gears together, slightly tighten screws and then nudge or pull the motor back a little, tighten screws, check the free "rock" or play and then give a quick blip of throttle and go by sound. If too tight it will squeal like a pig and no natural rolling motion after the throttle blimp.

curious, have you tried a different spur gear?

Have you tried a different pinion gear?

Reason I ask, I wonder if there is a burr in one of them that could be causing your mesh to effectively change?

I am inquiring for my ordered Tekno. :)

Will try the Ofna. Anyone have pics?
Actually the HB looks higher.

Pic of HB horn. Works perfect with no shimming!!

Does the OFNA listed on the first page need any extra shims with the 1258TG ? If so where do I get the shims?

Anyone have any information on when the aluminum screw kit (TKR1200SC) will be back in stock?

I emailed tekno and they said they are no longer offering the aluminum hardware. Took up a lot of time packaging. They may start up at a later date.

It was an ugly blue anyway haha!

Rockthecatbox21 07-18-2013 04:19 PM

Yeah i shouldn't be self concious about my truck's weight. She's beautiful just the way she is!!

aloksatoor 07-18-2013 04:34 PM

haa yeah that color was not matching the truck at all. Plus hate using hand tools when I can use my trusty makita drill. Can't have done it with aluminum heads.

Mizchief 07-18-2013 04:35 PM

Yea having a girl with a little more meat on her bones was the whole reason I dumped the SC10 in the first place :)

nmdesertracer 07-18-2013 04:48 PM

Tekno should do a pink screw set with pink straps saying "Save the Ta Ta's"

beaven 07-18-2013 05:54 PM

as long as they make a donation to the breast cancer research i would buy them, even at an inflated price.....

Bcholka 07-18-2013 06:30 PM

Bummed to hear they stopped offering the aluminum screw kit. Even though I wasn't a huge fan of the blue it was a great upgrade IMO
And she's still plenty heavy even with the kit.
