what esc are you going to run the HD with? don't be surprised if the HW esc and the tekin motor don't play nice together.

Please explain why they won't play nice in the RC sandbox?

I had a great time tonight running at WCRC, i qualified 6th & finished 4th. I tried the battery mod & what a world of difference that made! I also took the stock rear pistons and drilled out two holes to 1.32mm (#55). I think those 2 mods made a big difference, the rear was planted much better.

I got to take the Tekno out for its first race, and WOW great truck. Other then a snapped axle stub 3mins into practice the truck handled awesome.

I ended up running the Kyosho Orange Fronts and Yellow rears and truck felt good and changed out the rear swaybar from 2.4 to the 2.6 swaybar and that seemed to help in the corners alot better.

Other then me making a couple bobbles the truck flat out ran nice.... very pleased, now just to fine tune things as we go.

Why these springs?
And how did you come up with them?
Do you have a large collection of springs to try out?

Nothing to see here move on.

I've been reading and following thru the thread on spring rates and what people have been trying and using and kept some notes on my phone. The Orange front are a 4.0 and the Yellow rears are 2.9 and seems like a lot were going with Tekno 3.8 for front and 2.9 springs for the rear, but wasnt able to get them, and had ordered these when I ordered spares to try out. Also back on pg 608 I posted what the common spring rates were the people were trying and have good success with.

The box stock springs might work better for my indoor track, but for outdoors the tracks in my area are 8th scale size tracks with some good jumps at times.

I have the Losi ones from previous corr truck and D8 springs from my D8 escale so bought the Kyos with spares.

+1 the stock springs can work at arcs because of Ryan's track build style. As soon as we go elsewhere (as you've seen already) we need something heftier.

Shock pistons?

Has anyone tried the 8 hole 1.2 kyosho pistons?
If so what oil works best?

I know the 1.3 8 holes are very good. I havent seen any in stock though at my usual places. I would think those with the right oil and spring combo could be made to be nearly as good?

+1 yea thats why kindof glad I already had some D8 & Losi springs, so only had to buy the Kyosho springs. So far with my driving style they felt great.

Ian, Chambers and I had some fun qualifiers with only seconds off at times. I was running right there in the Main with them for a little and made one bobble after a jump and they took off.

Curious if anyone is running a Hacker 5.5 4 pole in one of these? I just put mine in, but missed being able to test it at the track this week. I have a 17T in it currently since its a lower KV than the Tekin 4600 people are using. Its fast on the street, but that doesnt tell me much.

timamybrown basically had that setup as he sealed up 2 of the stock pistons holes to make it an 8 hole 1.2 piston. I am not sure what holes exactly he did however, but, based on that, from what I recall he was about 2.5W lighter than what I was running with 8 hole 1.3mm pistons. So if you are thinking of going that route, give that a shot. I would say versus stock 1.2 hole x 10mm pistons, you may find 5W lighter all around could be the ticket.

What oils are you guys running with the 1.3x8 hole.
I will run them on medium smooth indoor clay, not very bumpy but alot of jumps

symmetricon 04-28-2013 01:44 PM

The 1.3x8 hole pistons have a lot more pack. If your on a bumpy track you will need to go lighter than the stock oils, but on a smooth track 450 cst up front and 350 in the rear should be a good starting point.

Well after my cousin convinced me to go back to the track (was going to take a break from rc's), I finally took my sct410 to the track today. I'm running box stock setup and man after about 3+ months with no track time I almost forgot how much I loved it.

The sct410 is def. the best 4x4sct I've owned to this day, it turns way better then my losi 1.0 did, and jumps far better then my sc104x4 did as well (without flipping over). One of the main things I also noticed was that I could take turns at alot faster speed then I could with my sc10 as well, so I def. got to give props to tekno, they def. did their homework on this one, and I can't wait to get back to the track again with a few mods/setup changes.........

Thanks TEKNO!!
