I can't even begin to explain on how badass the new Viper VTX8 ESC really is. I've been running one in my EB48 for about a month and I'm very happy I made the switch from Tekin. I too have had my share of issues with the rx8. The new viper is now the standard for 1/8 esc's. Not to mention they have the biggest BEC and the most durable alum case on the market.

Unfortunately some of that's not correct, if you are close to full speed with stock setup truck nose dives to the point of front flip on alot of jumps at full throttle also the rear will chassis slap the face of jumps. Look at how worn that area is on each Tekno u see. I would have to ease off and lose some speed on our fast straightaway jump to be able to peg it in air to keep the nose up. Outdoor big 1/8 jumps on all tracks I run stock setup was a nosediving freak
The faster you hit the jump the more it's going to nosedive. I cured mine by going to Pink front springs and heavier oil all around. Not big changes, but it's enough to stop the nosediving and make it land the jumps much better. Depending on the conditions of the track you run on you may have to go stiffer on the springs. |

I think there is def something weird going on with tekin lately. Too many people have had esc's die. I have been running the rx8 since September in my other truck and tekno until last week. I blew up 1 rx8, then another, finally I bought one in the hobby shop hooked it up and it wouldn't work out of the box! Tried new motors too from other people just to check. Ended up running another brand to make it through the weekend and it ran fine in the original motor. The rx8 keeps saying motor type not supported. But I know the motors are good cause I'm still running it , even yesterday with a diff esc. I used to love tekin, but 3 esc in a weekend ? That's enough to get me to try other brands for now. Tekno is dialed by the way ! RC MADNESS OUTDOORS OPENEING DAY NEXT WEEKEND FOR ANYONE IN THE CONNECTICUT AREA !!!
Guess who just got a SCT410? |
Finally ran mine today...outdoor track with tons of jumps...I'm using the tekno aluminum hexxes for the traxxas with one shim and had zero axle issues...zero issues period...my center diff didn't even leak at all...as far as handling goes WOW...this truck handles almost exactly like my eb48...also makes me want to throw a 4300kv pro4 HD in the eb48 on 2s
Edit: I'm running Austins dnc setups on both minus springs |
Wow I had 3 go in 4 months, but 3 in a weekend is crazy.
It took a long time for them to warranty them because they were waiting on the factory to make more, so not to spread rumors but maybe there was just a bad batch. My vtx8 only lasted a couple races. My new RX8's are good so far. |

From what I see on the bottem of the truck mind you I have only ran 2 packs in the truck that there is a lot of scratches on the rear of the truck so it's either bottoming out or slapping the rear as it goes off jumps.

Oh and tekin had a bad run of rx8's recently but I think it was just that one batch...should be back to being flawless...my new one never broke 100 today in the sct

Today I went for the lightened front & rear diff couplers & the lightened drive shaft. Hoping the shock towers come out super soon!
