Good just bought a new set and ran 1 race on them going to have to pretty much give away my sc10 but it will be gone soon :flaming:

I'm running the DE borrego wheels on my tekno. The wheels are brand new and I ran them for the first time today. After running for about 5 min, I landed a little funny and the hex part of the right rear wheel warped causing the wheel to bind on the top of the hub carrier. It was binding enough to actually lock the wheel up. I was able to muscle the plastic back to its normal shape, well close to it at least. I've never had any wheel do this before and it's obviously not normal. Has anyone had this happen to them? Are these wheels just crap?

an update......so i snapped my drive shaft today almost immediately after putting it on track ( 2 turns, 1 jump). right when i landed it broke. i thought the wheel just fell off.....anywho it snapped pretty much flush at the wheel hex, i seen another person have this happen on this thread already. i assume ive been tightening to tight, and or the metal could be a tad stronger. yes, i was running correct offset wheels. i was thinking about doing the water quinch technique to harden it, but spoke with someone tonight that said use oil instead of water after heating it up. he said that was the proper way to harden.....ill give it a shot, why not!! lol. luckily i always keep my other kit on hand for spares and was able to swap it out. i also ordered 2 more sets just incase :D.........by the way i got 2nd tonight in ebuggy with my sct410. i was the only one who had a 4wd sct........did i mention.....I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!!

Plenty of guys on here running way stiffer springs than the HB greys. I had to go up on oil to match the springs. Truck feels much more calm/planted compared to the stock oil/springs.

Heading to AMS sat for the East/West Shootout, should be even better with the higher traction there...:D

You mean the stub axle. I've broken 3 of them within about 4 battery packs. My brother put his tekno on the track for the first time today. He broke a stub axle within minutes. Fortunately I had a couple spares as we both needed them today. I emailed tekno last week but haven't heard back from them. I will absolutely be calling them this week. I love the truck otherwise but this is definitely an issue. Neither one of us are noobs, not by a long shot so there's clearly something wrong with the stub axles. Maybe a bad batch or something.

yes the stub axles......and i agree. gotta be a bad batch or the manufactures over seas are half a$$ing it. tekno is known to be strong so i know its not there fault, and im sure they'll fix it, especially if more ppl then us are experiencing it

Just wondering if anyone tried sc10 4x4 wheels on these if there is any issues if so ill sell them with my truck.

If you mean the stock AE non-offset wheels, they will work. I used them, but went with SCTE wheels since I am using the alloy hexes which are like +1mm offset.

That was the part I didn't do too much was go with heavier oil at rates higher than the greys as in my pit box I had up to 40W and was already at that up front and 37.5 on the rear, Losi oils.

I am hoping this piston change as a side benefit will get me down into the oil range I have.

Based on the reports and how well tekno looks into things, I wouldn't be surprised Tekno is looking into this as we speak.

I would bet the problem with these stub axles is they are too hard/brittle. In the heat treating process they were not tempered properly. Tempering is the part of the heat treating process after the part is hardened it is put back into the oven and brought up to lower temperatures about 400deg. a couple different times and allowed to cool naturally. Too hard = snap / break clean. Too soft = bend / crack.

I hope so because the truck seems awesome other than the axle breakage. I hope they can supply all of us with new ones for free that bought new kits.

So far Tekno seems like a great company for customer service I'm sure they will take care of any problems any of us have with these trucks!

missing part in new kit

i have been building my new truck the last couple nights. when i got to the section where the center diff is installed. opened up the bag "K", noticed i had 2 rear plastic supports but no rear bearing support (part# 5107). hopefully teckno can get this mailed out asap. i was hoping to run this thing next saturday.

Anyone know the weight savings for the TKR5000F – Chassis (7075 aluminum, hard anodized, lightened) VS Stock?

UR not a first! Had this happen with my 17mm DE Racing wheels! Told another member on RCShortcourse and they were surprised. I just thought it landed hard due to my stock servo giving out on a hard 180* turn. It was after a jump landing hard in the turn. But then again, this was running My Tekno V4 SC8.2e. If there were more wheel options for Shortcourse 17mm than I would be running 17mm on my Tekno SCT410 build.
