What do you all recommend for pinion size going from a Tekin SC4X 4.5t (4800kv) motor to the PRO4 4300 HD? I was running a 16 tooth in the 4.5t and top speed was just right.

Thanks in advance guys!!

16 to 17 should be the right gearing range. Maybe even an 18 on a big track.

Anyone running a 4s 1/8 power setup in theirs? I was debating on trying a tekin 1700kv with a 4s for the heck of it.

How is the SCT 410 for a novice builder. I am looking for a kit to be my first build and trying to decide between this and a 1/10 2wd buggy. I am more interested in running this class but wasnt sure if a 4wd vehicle would be too complex for a first build. currently I have a mbx6eco but it came built and I havent had to repair anything yet. thanks for any advice.

very easy and top notch!! you will see the quality in detail and the instructions are stellar. if you have any questions we are all here to help!! i also assume if you build another kit after this one, and it not being a Tekno, you will appreciate the attention to detail Tekno has provided. also it is very nice building your own kit because you will know the in's and out's when you need to wrench on it.

Thanks yeah I think I will go with the Tekno since I am more interested in 4wd SC than 2wd buggy even though it might help my driving learning on a 2wd. I am thinking of getting the SCT 410 with the HW SCT Pro and 4000kv combo. what is the best servo and battery for the SCT 410

any other optional parts I should get?

thanks again and when they have them in stock again I will start the build. it seems like tower will have them in early May

You'll love the 410, beautiful kit. Shouldn't be a problem putting it together, the directions are very simple to follow and you always have this forum in case you run into a minor detail that you need help with. That esc and motor combo should be just fine. Best servo that's kind of hard since every body likes different brands. I've had great luck with the Savox 1256, about $80 plenty strong and fast. Hitec makes some great servos too. I don't know what to tell you about parts I've had mine since they first released and I haven't broken any stock parts. Maybe someone else could recommends spare parts. I recently bought some Pro-Match 2s 7200mah packs and I think they're are one of the best batteries I've ever used and I've tried a bunch of them over the years.

One other plus to the 410 is it's way tougher than a 1/10 buggy, they tend to be a little on the delicate side.

Thanks for all the info, I will look into the Savox and Pro-Match. do you think the HW 4000 kv is good or should I do the 4700kv

I test drove someone's 2wd buggy on the track and loved it so I bought one but I will never give up 4x4 sc you can't get tired of the power and durability and tekno seems like its gonna top other brands just with durability and basic adjustments , the manual is on teknorc.com take a look I it seems like a good build and pretty easy for anyone who has rebuild shocks or diffs before those seem like the only complicated part tekno did its job well
