Tires may be my problem. I haven't tried anything in a super soft compound. I've tried several different tires that some of the more experienced drivers use for practice. Most are cheaper tires in a soft compound. Since I'm just learning the thing that will help me most is a lot of track time so I'm trying to balance tire wear with traction to help keep the cost within reason.

If your esc is hot, adding more timing is a horrible idea. You need to off load some of the work to the motor since it is running so cool. Try gearing and maybe motor timing and put the esc into blinky.
Now here is where I think your confused. There is no blinky mode on an RX8...As it adds no boost and is always run in dual mode. But it has a slider for timing, and with that, 0 is zero and I was at 35°...With the gearing I was running, it was about right speed wise, needed a little more, but as stated the ESC was temping a little warm. I will drop that back down to 10° and up the gear on the motor 1 tooth. Its a heavy truck...And I am trying to find the best average and balance it out with the speed vs. heat as i do not want to fry anything.. |

Did the battery tray mod.. this really seems to balance the weight well and I figure it will jump a lot better. Imo it would be nice to see a different battery tray design for full adjustment with the battery all the way back.

soft should be good for compound. I would put 2k in rear diff. and 2.2 swaybar in rear. also shock location in rear run inside on arm and tower 2nd hole from inside. 5k in center will make it easier to drive |
Anyone try to put Kyosho shocks on this ride yet? I have a spare set and curious if they fit. Don't have the truck yet, but would like to know.:D

Stock setup it seems a bit soft im using 37.5 front and 32.5 rear fluid with stock springs and stock shock locations. Rear chassies is slapping on bigger jumps. I was thinking of going up one spring rate on the rear but keeping the 32.5? Or whats your best advise on this on what to do? Car works awsome besides that.

Yep a few pages back some pictures where posted. My car jumps very level but I like to use my brake in the air and a little front end high will only help with the way I drive.
Also no need for full kyosho shocks on this rig dude. Shocks are butter, dont leak at all. I run all aluminum goodies btw but the stocks were fine as well for 1 weekend I ran them. I just run kyosho pistons and springs and it helps a lot. The CNC tekno pistons are never in stock anywhere I look but will give them a shot once the lhs gets them. suby how is the steering with the battery all the way back. I love everything on my truck right now except the nose fwd jumping. I just don't want to give up steering for jumping, I can deal with the nose fwd by coasting over jumps (which seems faster to me anyways :)). |

Alright this past sunday was my first race with my 410 and i have to say it went flawless the truck made me look amazing:lol::lol:. I had other racers saying that I was more consistent and faster than I have ever been now I need to learn to be a better driver because the truck has stepped up my game. I turned more laps than I ever did and crashed way less this thing is awesome. Thanks Tekno for such a great truck I am very pleased---so pleased I ordered the EB48 just so I can get more time on the track.

So I just got done reading the entire thread
I'm loving the positive feedback on this truck and I'm just waiting to see how we'll it does with the general population, racing on outdoor tracks. I know a few of you have raced either on the west coast or down south. It still seems like its dong well and I'm sure I will pick one up ASAP. Now I just gotta get my buddy to let me wheel his 410 (BTW... he's a tekno driver :sneaky:) Thanks for all the great info and feedback. Keep it comin!! |
