My LHS got mine in today! They even started to carry Tekno parts and kits in stock now. Started on the build. Just in time for the first race of the season on Sat. So far its very nice. Was slightly concerned that the chassis and towers weren't going to be as good as I hoped, but no concerns now.

I've run the 6600 nano's for a while and like them, but the 7200 SMC's are like a wakeup call to the motor in comparison. I didn't notice much of a difference in my SCTE, but now that I can put the power down after already carrying some speed, it isn't just all wheelspin and the difference can be seen a bit.

So what kv would you guys recomend I run outdoors. most tracks id say are large 1\8th scale syle tracks and one smaller 1\10th scale track and everyonce in awhile an indoor track in my scte I ran a 2800kv motor on 3s and loved the power and torque but I want to start running 2s only the tracks here are starting to crack down on that. Also im looking at the viper 550 motors whats your thoughts on those motors

RC*PHREAK 01-21-2013 07:18 PM

i've run a lot of the current 4 pole offerings for 4x4SC. i didn't run the 5150kv version of the viper motor, but i did run the 4500kv version for a bit. on a medium to medium/low traction track it would be a very nice sensorless option because to me, it felt softer on the bottom end than the pro-4 or tenshock. i believe the kv ratings on the viper motors are way under what they actually are. i was running a tooth or two higher than the tenshock 4600 which was a tooth above the pro-4 4600. if you run on a high traction track where you can use the extra bottom end, there are better options (tenshock or hobbywing 3656).

Tekno guys. What's the mah / min at sdrc with a 4600 kv. Avg mah / min. I have two 5600 packs. Wondering if I need a 6600.

MattDub 01-21-2013 07:47 PM

I run 5300mah with a pro4 4600 and 16 pinion. Makes 7 minute races with warmup. 5600 should be fine.

Any videos of this truck on the track yet?

I do not like running my packs to low. Looking for avg mah / minute if anyone has that info.

What tires are you running Matt?

Teeforb,
We are all running Proline Ions in the MC compound. I will do a test this coming Wednesday to answer your other question. I made the mistake of buying the 4200mah packs thinking they would be enough, they only make 5 min with one warm up lap LOL and come off at 7.7 volts.

I had to put this truck on the back burner :(, hopefully the tax gods will be kind & in a few months I'll be up & running.

Cool video! That thing can dance!

Finally finished my build. Just gotta figure out why my center diff is leaking and hopefully get some practice laps in tomorrow.

Gonna try with stock BEC and see if it browns out. Hope it doesn't. I like how the wiring (or lack thereof) came out.

Edit: all the diff screws are tight. Any ideas before I open it up?

Thanks. I checked out the EB48 thread and there are a few running the Activ8. It's a tight fit from what they say but it fits and that's good enough for me.

Not sure if you saw the pics of my truck that I posted a few pages ago, but I run the activ8 in mine. With a 63mm long motor I have a few mm gap between motor and esc

BTW, my truck weighs in at 6lbs. 12oz ready to run.

EDIT: it's supposed to read 660mah

Teeforb, I'm avg. 860 mah per minute on my 4800kv 4 pole and my motor is 2% less efficient than the pro4 4600kv motor. My 6200mah batts run down to 3.8-3.9 volts per cell at the end of a 5 min run.
