Anybody build the super light buggy?

Now we're just making stuff up.

New rims

Just threw on my new rims, all white DE racing Borregos paired with a set of J Concepts Barcodes. I really like the dish rim, some people hate it, doesn't seem to be any inbetweener's. Can't wait to get to the track and try em out. Usually run AKA's.

Aren't those tough on batteries? Maybe the current it too high.

Yeah, the 550 4 pole motors can be tough on batteries. You really want to watch your current limiting or whatever its called for your esc when using those motors.

If the draw wasn't so hard on the batteries, I probably consider the 6500s that promatch has right now for a cheap price.

Most likely going to use the smc 7200 for 4x4 sc and try the pro match shorty in my t4

the 7200s from promatch are basically the same though you do get the option of the 5mm bullets if you like and a 1 year warranty for a similar price. No knock on SMC though, great packs too, I just figure if you are going to order from promatch or SMC, maybe get them all from one place to save on shipping.

Makes more sense to do that, maybe within the next month I'll try both brands regular size and shorty packs, still trying to find a solid lipo to stick with

lol. I look at it as if you like cake or cake, with some SMC or Promatch frosting lol :)

Will a Thunder Power G6 5300 combined with a VTX8/Pro4 HD 4300 get me through a 10 min main in one of these tanks? I understand all the variables, just wondering if 5300 mah is below a comfortable level for finishing a race.

McGuire 09-27-2013 12:57 PM

It would be for me honestly

Here's an update pic of my truck. One of my favorite changes was been switching to emulsion, the truck is literally glued to the track now. I'm running stock pistons with 35wt front and 30wt rear and it's been amazing.

It should. I ran a gens ace 5000mah with that motor and a tekin rx8 for a 10min main. I could tell at about 8.5min it was starting to get soft. I put about 4200mah back in the lipo.

Anyone try sealing the side vent hole on the shock caps with shoe goo or something similar?

I am thinking of trying the emulsion setup but have the side vent hole drilled like the top one. instead of buying new caps, wondering how well that would hold up to just fill the hole.

Looks good man, so you like the emulsion style shock, what differences do you see from the standard or previous way you had your shocks set up? Been kicking around maybe trying it out. Also what heat sink is that on the motor?

This will depend a lot on driving style and track design/size.

Indoors when I am often more gentle due to traction and distance between corners, I would probably barely make that time with a 5300 close to cutoff. Outdoors on really high bite where I'm doing a lot of heavy smooth braking and hard acceleration, I can put back 3800mah after a 5 min main and a couple warm up laps if I'm pushing it, so that pack wouldn't even come close to 10 min.

I've found that the truck is better in rougher sections, when the truck would normally bounce around, the emulsion setup helps to soak up small bumps. It also does a lot better at landing bigger jumps, it's great how well it packs for it handling so well over the little stuff. I've been great so far on 1/8th scale size outdoors.

The heat sink is the Novak one for their Havoc. I had to stretch it wider and cut a notch for the wires for it to fit on my Tenshock. It really pays off too, for a 10 min run it lowered motor temps by 15 degrees.
