I need more steering on my car and I hope this frees up the rear a little bit more.
Tried it this weekend and the car had more offpower and mid corner steering. Actually the rear was sliding around when turning in. And once you got on the power the rear was locked in a bit more.
I removed it after 2 practice runs because my rear end was loose going in the corner and too locked in on power. I needed more on-power steering and less offpower for the layout we were running on, so I removed the plate. But I'm sure it will be good on other layouts where I need more offpower and less onpower steering.

What the heck is going on with Xray this year? First, they release the car and don’t tell anyone what’s actually changed from 19-20 for seemingly weeks. Then, by the time the holidays roll around the car is sold out everywhere, and unavailable for a few weeks. And now its on backorder again just when I decide I’m ready to buy it? I love this brand but this seems so out of character and it’s getting frustrating.

Not to mention not one team driver setup has been made available on their new setup site (or anywhere on the internet for that matter) and the car has been out since November 1st!

I ordered mine thru EuroRC the Sunday before Christmas, the 22nd and had it on December 26th from Finland. Shipping cost around 40 but with no sales tax at 6% here, worth it. My bad lost tract of Forum, that was the XB2. But they do have the XB4 20 car in stock.

#362085 & #363084
How about durability, do they bend easily?

Hey guys,

Ive searched around a bit for a definitive answer but was wondering when switching to the aluminium steering plate, do you run a shorter ballstud or run the stock stuf with more shims? Currently running on low-med grip dirt/clay have heard that some of the AE b74 guys remove the bumpsteer shim all toegther.
Any insight would be helpful!

Cheers

Keep the stock ballstud, but add more shims. The plastic steering plate is thicker than the alu steering plate. So you need to add shims to the alu steering plate to keep the same amount of bump steer.
If you run the alu steering plate with no shims, you will have bump in and it will make the car very nervous and hard to drive.
Use a total of 5mm shims on the alu steering plate as a good base setup. This is the same amount of bump steer as 2mm shims on the plastic steering plate. Sometimes we go to 6mm on bumpy astro to make the car easier to drive, but this is generally not needed on clay and smooth indoor carpet so keep 5mm for these conditions.

Anyone know where I can pickup yellow wheels for the xb4? I see the fronts everywhere, but the rears are elusive.

What brand wheels are you asking about?

Hey hello. I'm getting back into rc cars after about a 10 year layoff. This is my first electric 1/10 scale 4wd offroad build. I have built a kyosho 1/10 road electric and a nitro 1/8 mugen about 12 or so years ago.
What engine are you guys running? I will use this car for everything from mashing to racing. I have not purchased an electric motor and it seems I have a lot to learn about them. Thanks for any input anyone gives.

LOL. It's a niche within a niche. There's no money in RC race products.

I really have a hard time figuring out the RC industry. This crap happens all the time. And then we wonder why companies fail. Are the profit margins really that tight that they can't afford to manufacturer enough parts to fill orders? Or is it an Apple like thing where they intentionally underestimate orders to make it look like the demand is higher than it really is and to create hype?

Sucks for the loyal customers.
I think they underestimated the amount of resources needed to organize the worlds at their home track.

the good news is, you can always vote with your wallet and buy something else if you want to go slower than with an XB4

On a more serious note - I will run 4wd 13.5 blinky carpet indoor for the first time ever next month, stepping down from Mod (currently running 6.5's, with boost because who doesn't like boost ) with my '18 so I can attend a GP with a few friends.

Currently, the car works perfect with 10KF/8KR, 750/550, 4 dots/3dots, 1.8 F/1.7R slipper on a super tight technical track with lo-grip carpet and some purposedly laid down slippery surfaces, we run cactus's F+R (cut outside pins and glued sidewall F)

What is a recommended starting point for static timing (performa 13.5, should be very similar to Orion), and gearing ratio?

Anything to adapt in terms of setup basics?

Thanks,
Paul

I run 75/28 and I would think the timing at maybe 40-45 degrees. I would also run a fan on the motor.

Thanks for the estimate, good point on the fan thing, not sthing we run in mod indeed. I'd have forgotten!

40-ish degree as per motolyzer-like setup dyno, I assume?

Thanks!
