Depending on track size, 21-22t is where i would start.

That may be too big of a track to run 21-22 on an 8.5 turn motor. I would start at 19 pinion and go up from there. They key is to not overheat your motor. I use to have them go up to 180F, but it seems to kill them faster. I now hover between 150F and 160F operating temperatures.

Anyone else share thoughts on motor temps?

I run 18t on my 5.5t with no issues, and Tessmann runs a 20t on a 5.5t on smaller tracks.

How do you really dial out steering without changing tires?

Motor temp should never be above 160. That's per Trinity, Team scream, LRP, Ryan Maifield etc.

Go into your radio and either reduce the end points or the response from the radio to the car. EPA on Futaba radios.

The mechanical way would be springs, shock oil, caster, camber, toe, ride height , etc.

Default Jconcepts wheels

I read some previous comments in this thread about the X-ray wheels not holding up well, and a lot of people using different hexes with TLR wheels.. My LHS stocks JConcepts Wheels so I'd like to use what he carries on my 2016 XB4, does anyone know which JConcept wheels with which hexes would be best? Thanks in advance.

Its getting close to indoor racing in my area on dirt/clay tracks and i ran my 16 xb4 all last winter with the center gear diff and it worked good, i was looking at setup sheets from the 1/10 roar nats and thats one of my local tracks and the xray guys were running center slippers. have any of you guys tried both and whats the differences in them?

Why would you want to? It appears that the saddle pack configuration is so much more stable. I found my 2014 version to be much more stable and easier to drive than the new shorty pack versions.

I disagree, my '16 is 100 times better than my '14 was. Even on our low traction dirt track. Suzukipro also just switched from the '14 to the '15 with a shorty and said it was worlds better (same track).

With that being said, you can convert to shorty but it is alot of work (look back in the thread it has been done). I would just look for a newer one, with the '17 being out you can find '15 or '16s pretty cheap.

I'd like to hear some opinions on this as well. I ran 16' car w/ center diff filled w/ 500k. My car had a slight push in the tight sections, I would imagine this could be fixed via set up. I was told a few weeks back to go lighter in the center to get it to turn better. I am really looking forward to running indoor this year since we have such a great buggy.

Hey Bill are you going to lcrc this weekend? I am and I'm planning on running my xb4. If you are we could work on a good set up on friday, then Saturday dial it in to beat up on those b64's!

I'm using the Jconcepts 22-4 rims front and rear... will let you know which hexes when I get home, can't remember off the top of my head.
