I can second that on my '15 version. It's quite stable that driving it at times, feels boring... then again i'm more of an on road driver these days.

Running 13.5 medium / high grip clay (Ocrc). Just getting around to installing the gear diff. Just realized 500,000 cst hudy diff oil is $30! I was going to experiment with different weights but at this price I better get it right. Is that a good starting point? Local factory drivers of many brands looked at me like I was a total crazy rookie by asking about running such high weights (I am a rookie btw). They stated 100k was the most they rarely see.. What's a good starting point and what makes this buggy different than all the others

I'm going to run my xb4 for the first time on indoor medium grip clay today and the local fast guys running xray told me 8 15,000 8.

jae , I use the traxxas 500k works good and cheap or you could try the mugen stuff!

AE makes 500,000 and 1,000,000 and its about $6 a bottle.

I'm going to try the 500,000 to potentially 1,000,000 center diff like as Bent recommends. I will take their word for it as they are very experienced with this winning buggy and how it likes to be ran.
My question is, do any other 4wd buggies frequently run this heigh oil weight of oils weight in medium bite to high bite clay? Im new to 4wd but from what I've seen for 10th scale 4wd' has been, at most from what I see, upper teens.
Unless I'm wrong and with a limited sample pool, what makes the xb4 take such higher weight oils and why? What makes the xb4 different? Thx all

edit: 500k was just so so perfect for medium grip
All bents info is leggit. Ive been running these xb4s since 13'. 500k on med bite is decent about 5 min of the 7 min we run in mains seems to heat up and lose forward bite . It can be easier to drive but like i said lacks forward bite . 1mil def feels best so far . I run 5k, 1 mil, and 3k rear. Feels best for my style. Plenty of steering and forward bite .

Ran my 16 XB4 yesterday on med grip clay for the first time and first time ever driving 4wd buggy, this buggy was on rails. Just squeaked into the a main to finish 7 after double a mains using 8,000 15,000 8,000 next week im gonna try 500,000 in the center. whats a good front rear diff oil to match center?

I am using 7k 200k 5k on med-hi grip clay and mine is on rails also...thinking of bumping the center up to 500k just on the advise of others but honestly buggy is so good i dont really want to touch it.
If i were you and were going to 500k i would probably leave the 8 in the front and drop the rear to 5 or so.
Shoot, you might want to try just changing one diff at a time and see how you like it, that is what i am going to do.

I 2nd that. I run 7k,300k,5k or 7k,500k,5k on med/high grip running electrons. Of course you can run higher like others say but for me that just gives me a faster Hot Lap and not a better overall time for 7min. the reason is the car is much more consistent running lower weight oils so less of a chance of making a mistake.
