I've never driven a wheeler with a center diff, but some of this talk makes me wonder if it would be better to go back to the slipper if you need to run 500k or higher diff fluid. Isn't that basically almost locking the center diff?

Got the steel bevel diff gears in my '14! Loving it ... driving the car HARD without worrying about stripping gears. I did strip a couple before but I think that's because of the diffs getting a bit loose in the bulkheads ... should buy new bulkheads really.

I'm running with the 2mm plate under the rear gearbox. What's the benefit of having this/removing it? Not really sure ...

Thanks!

Running in the UK, I found that removing the 2mm plate made the car better over bumpy blown out grass tracks, much like it did on the old Yokomo BX when we used a one piece chassis.

You also have the option of replacing the plate with lead/brass to get a bit more forward drive in low grip conditions.

Not sure if any of you have had excessive wear on these parts but mine is getting pretty bad to the point that I'm almost second guessing this beautiful car because my wallet can not afford outdrives every couple weeks . This being said I have been staying on top and replacing my driveshaft pins .

if anyone can chime in on this that would be great

Thanks in advance
Some tips: Use durango drive boots on center universal joints, and slipper outdrives, and graphite grease to there. Use also same grease in diff outdrives (drive boots don't stay so well on there). Not so good looking but saves your wallet! Apply to diff outdrives with syringe&needle between runs, don't use excessive mount of grease.

This guy has a syringe with the tip cut off that he uses to push the fluid into the diff.
That's Paul Lemieux and that's his own brand of diff fluid. I was going to post this video but you beat me to it.

Raising the rear diff/tower etc. 2mm with the plate is lowering the roll center, I believe. This is beneficial on high traction tracks like carpet/astro, and high bite clay (slicks, maybe bar codes).

The fluid comes with the syringe which makes it very easy to fill a diff. Just give it some time, 8hrs or so, to settle before fitting it all back together to be sure the air is out of the diff.

So I drove my xb4 15spec lastnight at Rc Clubhouse here in Michigan and it was a blast. I ran it with 8k/100k/5k and the car was soooo easy to drive. I was much faster going in and coming out of the corners. The only issue I had is that I was unable to clear the quad with a Orion r10.1 pro and 6.5t when others were able to make it, even in 2wd mod buggy. I am going to try 300k next and see how that helps. Overall I've got to say that the center diff is a Must Have item. So easy and such a blast to drive.

the center diff does take away that power snap that a slipper has. keep in mind a slipper is normally was "stiffer" than 100k. Doing up in center diff oil will give you more forward snap. But it will effect steering and other things as well. Just put a 5.5 in it, lol

I use DE Speedline for DEX410/XB4 because I like the colors better than the plain white/yellow.

It raises the roll center, but the rest is correct ;-)

You would be surprised how much diff action you get even with a 1000K....
Very different from running a slipper.
