New Traxxas 1/10th Rally...New Race class??
#61
If you would like to see a raw, HORRIBLE video that will give you a headache, lol, you are welcome to look at the video here
This was the rally exhibition race at Short Course Showdown Finals in Dallas. NONE of the drivers had ever driven or practiced with the cars...thats why sometimes they would miss jumps....three of the cars were new out of the box (the two orange ones are my personal cars) with no changes, and then other two were well used versions that were basically run non-stop by Traxxas employees for the past month.
All cars were bone stock with stock tires, electronics, etc.....
I will try to get a good video this weekend, if I can get these on the same track on practice day....

Well, this is how they have been run so far....
about 15 or so folks have been running two trucks on the street on 3s 5000's....they run them MUCH harder than I ever would, basically as bashers would...and have had no overheating issues..With that said, it isnt necessarily what I would recommend....I would go down on the pinion if running on 3s.
My personal Rallys have only been run on multiple 2s 7600's on off road indoor and outdoor tracks, back-to-back...this is not as much my recommendation, as much as it has been a necessity in order to let the most number of local drivers try the car out. I would probably take a break now and then between loooong 'hot laps' with those 7600's
Personally, I dont see any reason for the rally body to cause any INCREASED motor temps relative to a 4x4 Slash, so I dont think you will see anything different than a Slash setup...the same rules apply with the rally as the stock 4x4 slash....
-pierce tires if you plan on 'getting wet'
-change gearing if you intend to run 3s for extended runs
-check periodically for tight mesh, damaged bearings, or other driveline resistance

Can we convert a slash 4x4?
#68
Yeah, you need about 11 parts....not much price-wise...the body is the most expensive part, of course..or get the proline bodies...
You can Dl the exploded view fro Traxxas.com, and cross-reference that image with the exploded views for the slash 4x4.

What about taking a SC10 4x4 and putting the Rally body on it?!
1/10 Rally and Short Courses are the same size and SC10 has LCG chassis from stock. 150 usd roller and you get it here on RCTech.
450 usd for a "LCG 4x4 SC" seems to be a little bit expensive...
I'm not against new classes but it was exactly what Traxxas did (a 4x4 LCG SC).

It depends on how a spec class is going to be done. Right now, the tracks that are working on a class are making it bone stock.

TRAXXAS IS DIE-ING OUT OF THE REAL RC RACE GAME
Sorry to say but no matter what traxxas product brings to the table, it's not worthy for any real rc racing. It just another high end walmart toy for basher starting age of 4-17 years of age. I don't hate the product but its not made for racing it not really that fast, the more you mention about how fast it is lots of shopper begin to believe it, chatch 22.
