Either stock or mod. Gear diffs tend to be be slower around the track. Now you skill level will determine how big a difference this is but the ball diffs have proven to be faster around the track.

Are the stock plastic idler gears strong enough to handle 6.5-8.5 mod motors or are the aluminum versions a must? I'll need 2 if I'm going MM.

For the thrust bearings in a ball diff, can Mobil One grease be used instead of AE black grease? I might take a crack at building a ball diff. I was going to use a gear diff because I suck at building a long lasting ball diff, but it seems like everyone vouches for them.

Use the B-Fast diff kit.

Carpet MM should be better.

Mid Motor is awesome on Carpet. I picked up the win in stock and Mod SC again at our local club race....Made it a trifecta winning Stock Stadium truck as well.

I see a mixed bag of plastic and aluminum for the guys running mod. I would say it depends on how frequently you plan on rebuilding the diff and freshening up the tranny. I clean and rebuild (replace parts as necessary) every 6 weeks running 17.5 regardless, but, I have been told I have a problem........just ask my wife

Not sure about the Mobil One grease. I use the stock TLR black grease or the BFAST grease. I think the key is proper break in and tightening. Only weak point I have personally encountered is a weak thrust washer from TLR, but, I only use BFAST now and will be trying the ones Casper is offering once my stock runs out.

I had a Pro2 5100Kv in a SC10 and it was awesome, thinking of the 5800 for the 22..........Just make sure your ESC will push it

Is 17.5 blinky in MM a bad idea? My Thoughts were maybe the 4 gears would take to much power away. Anyone tried this?

I would have thought that the Pro 2 would be heavier than a 540 can motor, but they are within a gram of each other. I would guess that the Pro2 would have a bit more brakes, so I'd have to work with the drag brakes.
Has anyone else ran a Pro 2 in a 2wd SC?

Wow never would have known...

My Orion VST Pro weighs in at 188 grams and the new Tekin Pro 2 4-pole weighs in at 179 grams.

Nice...Has anyone else tried the Tekin Pro 2 4-pole motor?

+1 If anyone is considering going this route, take in to account the need for a bigger/heavier 1/8 esc(strongly recommended by Tekin) to power the Tekin 4 pole.
