there are several tires I can think of that work at many tracks (although losi has only a few tire choices, how about the losi ultra digits.) the reason to not include tires is to increase profit on each kit. If you included tires, you couldn't price the truck over $400 (after discounts) and have people accept that. So you price it at $360 and keep the cost of the tires. this is the same thing as the durango desc410v2 not including a body because they say it saves shipping cost. Who is saving the shipping cost? This is a simple way to incrementally increase the cost of r/c to get the most profit out. Another simple question: if the 22t is $279 with 2 bodies, why is the 22sct $359 with 1 body (even if you add $20 for the better diff balls, and another $15 for the bumpers, there is still a $50 difference) I am not complaining about the price, I am simply trying to show that off road kits are going the way of the 4wd sedan. Soon, all of the racing 2wd sct kits will be over $300, and the 4wd kits will be over $400.
I understand your concern about the pricing and the tires. One of our goals at TLR is to give the best kit out of the box. We are now including high grade NMB 5x10mm bearings in the rear hubs and front axles, as you'd mentioned the tungsten carbide diff and thrust balls, aluminum bleeder shock caps, 4mm turnbuckles, updated slipper plates, and two spur gears, the 78t for stock and the 86t for modified and many other bumper components. We also have done some 2nd ops on the out drives to ensure the mounting surface of the diff ring is as flat as possible to improve the diff performance and longevity. Furthermore we have added small details to the vehicle with laser etching on the chassis, dog bones, front axles, and the front and rear shock bodies that identify the parts as SCT to ensure racers don't mix their parts up.
As for no tires, this was a strategic decision starting with the 22. We found that shipping a vehicle with tires we couldn't satisfy all of the different tracks that the vehicle would be raced on, so instead we provide 8 wheels allowing the consumer to pick whic tires they want for their desired track conditions.

The kit setup on the 22SCT is a very good low-medium grip setup that will be appreciated by the majority of the racers. We will be sure to keep setups flowing once we further dial in the 22SCT.

I'll be sure to get one up from this weekend at HRH, and I plan to run some indoors on a clay track like OCRC, WCRC, or SDRC over the next few weeks. If we can have a "loose track", "clay track", and "high grip" setups all ready by the time the truck ships, that should give most people a great place to start.
