I would just get the ST racing alum ubrace. The shaved ones tend to break because they are thinner.

That's what I would do. I have one on my SC10 and T4.1 And love it!

Ok I got the ASC FT Aluminum bulkhead........

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Bulkhead-Blue

........and it doesn't seem to fit right. It seems too tall and doesn't conform to the shape of the top plate. Currently I have a stripped out top plate so it's hard to tell for sure but even in the Amain pics the FT Aluminum bulkhead looks so much different than the stock plastic piece.

Anyone else have an issue with this?

Mine was a bit tight. I had to round the footers on the top plate and press it in there. Kind of a PITA.

I'll try that J_Bone thanks. Did you dremel them?

No, I used a file. I didn't take much off, just rounded it. If you do use a Dremel, be careful not to take too much off.

Thanks for the good advice - much appreciated.

Do the screws thread into the aluminum bulkhead? I stripped my top plate too after a nose dive on the front bumper. I think it would be stronger if the screw threaded into the bulkhead and top plate.

that's very nice thread.

I'm running a 8.5 Novak with a 17 pinion and 87 spur and my motor temp doesn't go over 120. I'm gonna try a 18 and see how that feels.

I ran my 10.5 Novak @ 20/81. My outside temps were above 100°F and my motor temped at 145°F.
I would recommend starting with an 18t and make sure it drives good and doesn't over temp. Then adjust accordingly.
