That was a great suggestion. I've checked though and it's the correct hexes.
I'm wondering if there is a problem because I'm using JConcepts axels with AE hexes.

This is what I think the problem is myself.

Does anyone run JConcepts clamping hexes on the front of their 2WD SC10?
Is it possible you could measure the width of them for me with calipers?

The AEs I have are 5.14mm

Did you put in the three shims that come with the jcon axles on the inboard side where the nut is? I can measure my hexes but if yours is only 5mm sounds like b4 hexes to me.

Shims are on.

Please could you measure yours for me.
Thank you.

Mine measured right at 6mm. They're the avid hexes but they should all be the same size. I did run the ae hexes that came with the truck with the jcon axles no problem before getting the avid ones.

Thanks for that.

I visited my LHS this morning. My current hexes are JConcepts. I measured them with my calipers and they came in at 5.1mm. The LHS had AE hexes. These were 5.8mm.
I decided to take the AE ones and I'll be fitting them tomorrow and will see what happens. If it's still not right I'll strip down the steering blocks and axles and start from the beginning with them.

Thank you for the help.

Hi all, I don't think I will be able to use the search feature if I have any questions. I mostly just wanted to say hi. I just picked up a SC10RS. I just raced for the first time at a LHS and had a blast. This truck is QUICK! Thankfully someone let me borrow a set of wheels with clay tires because I was all over the place with the stock tires. So far, I have switched out the front and rear bumpers, and a-arms with their RPM equivalents, and switched out to aluminum hubs. I picked up a set of proline wheels and clay tires for the rears, and was going to try the knobby tires that came with the truck on the front until I have the cash to pick up another set of wheels and clay tires. Other than that, my next purchase will be a Mylaps 2 wire transponder and common tools.

So I have two questions that I keep asking and no one can seem to give me an answer besides look in your manual. I have looked through everything that came with the truck and can't seem to find anything. 1. Is there any preventative maintenance that I need to do after a race day or in general? Is there anything that I need to lube or grease on a regular basis? Brands and intervals would be greatly appreciated. 2. I live on a dirt and gravel road and the track at my LHS is clay. While I don't think I will be running around that house very often if at all, there is an outdoor track that I may attend every once in a great while. How in depth should I be going in order to clean? Should I be removing parts to clean under them, or would a good shot with a duster can and some magnum force cleaner be ok for the most part? Is there anything that I SHOULD NOT hit with the magnum force?

Thank you everyone and I look forward to getting to know the hobby much more!

Hi everyone. Got a question. My son runs a SC10RS 2wd in an outdoor, open class. Any idea's on upgrades? We have already upgraded his motor, servo, and shocks. What parts would be a good upgrade? He is 12 so obviously anything that is "blue" gets extra points. Not looking to buy every blue part off the website, but they make good stocking stuffers.

So what is worth the upgrade? Thanks in advance.

Aluminum steering bellcranks, aluminum locking hexes, and SC10.2 rear hub carriers. When you say you updated the shocks, I'm assuming you upgrades to the 12mm big bores?

Yes...Sorry for leaving that part out. Anything else?

Maybe a set of tires/wheels? Not sure how many he currently has, but sometimes track conditions can change throughout the day and what tires he started with earlier in the day might not work later in the day?

If you are still running the roll pins in the rear drive axles upgrade those to the FT solid ones. As also stated, the tires are probably the single most important aspect of making a fast car. Having the right tread and right compound is 70-80% of the tuning puzzle. You could upgrade to the FT turnbuckles (BLUE!!!!) and aftermarket rod ends. The stock rod ends are not the greatest. RPM's are very solid as are JConcepts and Lunsfords. I think some folks have been starting to switch their rod ends and turnbuckle setups to B5M parts. And of course you could always go after a sweet custom painted body.

JHKracing 11-04-2014 05:56 AM

Oh yes...already have the new body in the works. After all, my B5M needs to match!

Thanks for all the advice!!!

I have had the same issue with mine. I'm using Jconcept axles and hexes. They work fine with Jconcept wheels but do not tighten up on DE wheels. I fixed it with some shimming and it seems to be working fine.
