Any thoughts on 13mm AE shocks for sc10?

bds81175 06-30-2014 07:43 AM

Unless you are jumping off the rough of a building....no. The big bores offer more than enough damping and pack for any track you will come across.

Thanks for feedback on 13mm. Ready to pick up shocks for a build & I run them on my 4x4 & very happy with handling & tuning so I thought I would ask. I'm 70 years young & just want to run up front with the pack not kick a## LOL. Thanks again & keep up the great work.

Ok my friends got 1 for ya..... in a previous post ??? a fellow said he had a binding issue on rear when he tightened his rear wheels & I dident think much about it thought it was something he missed WELL after installing MIP shafts & AE hexes guess what, I have same issue. After going over everything (im a retired engieneer/machinest) the slot (recess) for cross pin is so deep in the hex it wants to crush the bearings when you tighten the wheel nut. Now if the crush coller were longer it would tighten on both bearings & coller which should be correct. so FYI to my fellow racers.

Brand new SC10 RS truck here. Ran it for the first time at my track, horrible terrible oversteer constantly, nearly uncontrollable. Low traction, high dust, outdoors- what tires do I need to be looking into as my first step to wrangle this thing around the track without flipping it back over every 30 seconds?

(Part of my problem is I lost a steering rack bushing while installing the FT chassis brace, replaced it with a plastic piece that was the same size while I wait for a set of bearings to replace all the bushings, and the steering was suuuper slow causing on throttle oversteer. That will be fixed Thursday.)

Talk to the local fast guys at the track about what tire and compound they are running front and rear. Fix the steering to be completely free and as fast as you can get it. Turn the punch/current down on your ESC until you are just barely able to spin the tires from a dead stop. Try that and then figure out where you are having problems. Stop back here and ask more questions or PM one of us (pick me, pick me!!!!).

What tires should I start off with to start getting around the track?

Outdoor, dusty, low traction, one bumpy section. Some tire ideas would be helpful so I can get a starting point at least, and adjust from there. Most of the locals run 4x4 so the tire choices they say are different. Plus it's a public track, so there's no timing or races. just bashing

pettyeagles 07-08-2014 07:29 PM

I would try Proline square fuzzies or if it's really loose dirt Proline Calibers.

bds81175 07-08-2014 08:43 PM

The locals running 4x4 should still be able to help you unless they aren't really doing any tuning. I agree, Calibers are the bomb if the track is really blown out and dusty. Enduros are a pretty decent tire for dustier tracks too.

my shocks are in need of a rebuild, is anyone running the proline prospec shocks on there sc10?

Widest SC10 front hex adaptors

Guys,

I have a strange problem. I changed the front of my kid's SC10 to hex using the JConcepts axles and AE hex adaptors. The problem is that when I mount a wheel (I've tried a few) I tighten the wheel nut all the way to the bottom and that is not far enough. The wheel is still very loose.

I've had to either shim it under the nut, or I've tried moving the clamping hex outward and tightening it with half the axel pin sticking out, and even then the wheel nut only just tightens on the wheel.

Right now I'm looking to swap out the front hex adaptors for wider ones. The rear adaptors are too wide. I need a slightly wider front axel.

I realise I may be solving the wrong problem doing this, but I'm stuck for answers.

Thanks.

I'm assuming this is a 2wd? Are you sure you have the SC10 hexes and not the B4 hexes? I know that everything upfront but the A arms are interchangable but the front hexes are different widths, the buggy hexes are narrower.
