Tekno RC EB48 Thread
I agree with this approach. Cut foams out of some tires last week. Not sure why people work so hard on this when this approach is so simple. At this point the tires are done for, the wheels are at least beat with an ugly stick, and if you did remove the glue from the wheels how smooth and clean would the bead be anyway. Good foams will last and are worth saving. But the rest, not so much.

I prefer acetone in a sealed container with the tire sitting on a cup or something so its' not actually in the liquid, hard to believe but it actually works faster that way vs. being submerged.
The foams are usually ok as long as they are closed cell.
Baking will make anyone who lives in the house hate you due to the smell. Can't imagine wanting to eat anything that comes out of that oven afterwards. Boiling can warp the wheels but probably safest if you only care about the foam and rubber.
And when it comes to gluing i highly recommend one of these: http://www.dialedhobbies.com/474/phi...ing-jig-detail

Can you be patient? .3 on the way. (Maybe a couple months) If you want to run 2s and sct electronics and run some indoor smaller tracks then go EBSL.... If you are more outdoor and want that traditional 1/8 then wait for the .3
eb48sl is meant for smaller indoor tracks with an affordable electronics ( 2s lipo and 550 motor size )
what do you want to do ?
v1 for 480 is very expensive !!!
The diff gears, spur gears, etc are all the same.
The outdrives and driveshafts are lighter weight and thinner on the SC/SL, but still handle 4S power just fine. They will, however, wear quite a bit faster on 4s power than the full size dogbones/outdrives.
It is true, however, that the cars are designed for different purposes, with the EB48SL being designed for indoor tight tracks and the full EB48.x vehicles being designed for outdoor tracks, typically with larger air requiring that 4s power to kick in hard.

I have a mm2 I plan to get a 2200kv motor, run 4s, and occasionally 6s. The v.1 is a new in box kit at my lhs. I know its almost a crime but I plan on mostly bashing with it. Sadly I have no local off-road tracks. It will be my first time building from a kit, sounds alot more fun than an rtr. I guess I need to just be patient, I hope the v.3 is out soon.

if it truly is a .1 and you can grab it for cheaper than $480, you can buy the upgraded .2 parts that you find worth it for your needs with the extra money. but I would also double check too see if it is a .2... for $480 I would swoop that up all day. .2's are hard to come by these days. .2 was the first kit I built as well and loved every bit of it. i'll never buy another rtr again.

I've been bashing my 48.2 for a while now it's great. I use a castle 2400 short course motor with a fan on 4 s and it's awesome. Yes it breaks but you really gotta almost be trying to hurt it lol. I put the shorter wing mount on and it helped allot with ugly landings on the wing.
