i got mine in easily. I took a body reamer and reamed a tiny bit out of each hole and the pegs fit nice and good, very easily. I dont have a 17.5 to test with yet so i wont be running the setup for a while but eventually i will.

Default RC10 Gold Tub / Trying to convert to B4 tranny

Hello...

Anyone running a RC10 Gold Tub? I just bought one and I wanted to race it in the current 2WD stock class at our track. It comes with one of the early stealth transmissions, but I wanted to update the tranny. Someone told me that you can drop a B4 tranny in it. But in looking at it they mount differently. Anyone try this? Anyone have any ideas on updating the existing tranny?

I plan to run a 13.5 Novak through it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't bother changing the tranny in that RC10, the only real difference between it and the B4's is the drive ratio and if you're running stock then you won't miss it. I saw a guy running an old RC10 that changed the rear hubs to the B4 hubs and CVD's and found he could use current wheels at the correct width that way, I think that's worth doing both for making wheels easy to find and also to get 3 link length options.

Thank you.

Does anyone know the internal drive ratio?

I think the orig. Stealth tranny is 2.25:1 ....
Does anyone know if it stayed constant till AE changed the buggy?

I set my B4 up today with a 17t Brushed set up, running an LRP AI ESC/Speed Gems 17t Motor and my usual Spektrum radio. I had a lot of fun, but at the beginning of my second time out after ending the first one to change some things, I lost control on a jump (leaves, slippery grass, etc) and it landed in the street at the exact moment a car was coming by, and the car hit it with its right rear wheel, went into its driveway and the driver took one look at my car and walked away into his house...it was my fault but I was shocked that he didn't even say something. All I broke was the rear shock tower, the wing got bent, and I broke a body clip. Not too bad for getting run over by a car!

69t tootsie roll setup didnt work. The little ring around the holes portruded too far out to let the pegs catch. Im gonna grind that ring down with my dremel later this week and try it again.

It worked for me with a 13.5, but my track is so high traction clay that we run the slippers pretty tight since we don't need to limit wheel spin. So I had it pretty tight. I realized that you can't gear a 13.5 anywhere close with a 69 spur so I didn't run it long and went to the assoc 78 spur and slipper pads to get the FGR that I needed.

Funny, to test the 13.5, I ran the 69t spur and kept adding pinion teeth and and checking temp. it never got above 110 degrees, flew down the straight, but was not nearly punchy enough in the infield section. The track is only like 80 x 60 or 60 x 40 or something. So the 13.5 will pull the gear without killing itself, it's just not the fast way to go.

Chris,

You dont need that stupid tootsie roll setup for the tracks you run. Just put the 76 spur with a 34 pinion and you are fine, you need the slipper !!

Unfortunately, that was before I ran it. It's an older motor. Look at the brushes, they're tiny! Ordering new brushes/springs tonight and I'll cut the comm as soon as I get a chance.

Where can i find a 76 spur anyways? You're talking about the xx-4 gear right?

Nope, for your B4.

Run a losi 76 or a Kyosho spur. If you go to Kyosho , you need to get their slipper pads as well.

i meant the losi gear, its a xx-4/xxx-t spur gear. Thats the one i assumed you were talking about for my b4. What would you say is an appropriate FDR for 17.5?
