Some attempts to simplify my Snake. A special bracket for the servo/esc is in process.

Chop, the ESC is fine. You're only cutting off the plastic cage with a cut off wheel, which has 0 impact on the ESC's performance....assuming he doesn't need to run a fan....that's a different issue!

If you cut the cage too low it voids the warranty. The up rights help hold the heat sink on.

I don't know why you would do such a thing it works perfect as OEM now you just decreased the whole value of your items. Different strokes for different folks but man what a waste of time just my personnel feeling

Default Gearing

Boys, how are you guys gearing an rx8 paired to a T8 1900kv on a large outdoor track? Been running the kit 16t and it seems very comfortable.

Well, after 1,5 season it still havent popped off. And if it do, Ill by me a new one. And no problems with the heat what so ever.
Honestly, I think the whole area around the servo is much to complicated. As the battery boxes and
antiroll bars. Is there really a need for bearings there? And what will happen when dust/dirt will
collect in the connections at the arms?
I really like my Snake but in some areas it’s a bit overworked. And the weight confirms that.

a new case is only $10, so its not the end of the world, however the side pieces keep the heatsink / boards tight in the case. with out this pressure holding it down, the whole assembly rattles around in the lower case, and can cause pre mature failure. The esc looks way better with out the cage though

in 1.2 years i have had a issue with dirt and the sway bar ball and nut in the arm. and it was a weekend i did not clean my car or look at it.
when i clean my car i make sure to blow the hole out and the dust goes with it

and yes the bearing smooth things out. and it pimp

the radio try imo is the sweet 5 screws and the motor servo esc are all in my hand and the cars ready for the simple green and water hose

5 screws here as well. And thats inkluding the steering rod. Are you using any contacts between esc and motor? Do the motor really like water?

T8's are not water proof. Some wetish dirt/clay is ok but don't go taking a garden hose to the motor.
