I can see how they adjust gear mesh. At least when the housing isn't attached to the chassis .
Aren't the housing just squeezed together when I fasten it to the chassis? I believe that 2 screws each that goes through the chassis goes into each part of the housing.
Sry for stupid sentences. English isn't my mother tounge :)

For the sake of two measley screws, you're better off just dealing with them. If you didn't need the screw there, Serpent wouldn't have included them. Besides which, a few seconds of undoing screws each time is worth it considering the damage you could do.

Thanks all.
Stuff can be over engineered some times and I think that I could save a lot of seconds by not having to detach the whole front of the car. But I get the point, I will keep the screws and pay attention to my gear mesh.
Maybe I could drill a bit and use long suspension mount screws (like in the rear) to keep the mesh

Got a buddy getting this car, and he wanted to ask what would be the best diff and shock setup for a loose outdoor track? Also if he needs to order any option parts to facilitate this, Steering rack #2? springs?
Or should he try the box stock setup first and go from there?
Thanks guys.

Personally, I will run it stock so I know what I'm dealing with before making changes. Then again, my LHS is a 5 min walk away, and stocks a fair bit of serpent option parts, so I guess its easy for me to say when I dont have to wait for parts.

The Motorama setup that is posted on the website is a very good starting point that I still use pretty often. Chicky also has a sheet posted a few pages back for a setup that we have recently been running that is pretty awesome on loose tracks as well.

I'll have him run box stock and go from there. What are the kit shock oil it says 300 cst Front and rear. Seems a bit soft? Or should he try like a 27.5 rear and 32.5 front? Thanks!

I meant to say whats 300 in losi oil

Check the springs, they might be making up for it. Still, run it stock before fiddling with shocks (I know its not overly difficult, but I HATE doing it; in fact, I hate all fluids/oils when it comes to RC, but I guess its necessary).
Maybe warn him to have some on standby just in case, but I wouldnt say its necessary to change from the get go.

One more question, hes running a tekin 1900kv combo on our outdoor track, the stright is about 95feet long. What would be a good pinion to start with?

Would a 40wt fr/30wt rr (losi oil) be to much for serpent 8 hole conical pistons (1.2mm holes)? Track conditions are not very bumpy or very smooth. At the moment I have stock 6x 1.3mm pistons fr/rr and 35wt fr/27.5wt rr and the chassis hits the ramp when I jump. Springs are stock (blue fr and red rr).
