we use 5300 to 5800 batteries. I personally have TP 5300 which are lighter so the car feel better and lighter.

One of our friends made the following after his first run...

Do you guys put any kind of lube or green slime on the shock o-rings when you install them or should you leave them dry? Just trying to get the smoothest possible shock so any suggestions would be great.

I usually put shock oil on the threads of the shock piston and orings when building so that the threaded parts goes through the o ring without damaging them. I used to use green stuff but smells bad

Just out of curiosity. Why doesn't Serpent make a 1/10 buggy? That thing would absolutely dominate.

I think you'll see a Serpent 2wd buggy out before you see a Serpent 4wd SCT. I'd love to see a Serpent 1/10th 4wd buggy out as well.

Need some setup help, trying to battle on-power understeer.

Heres what im running
Diffs 5-7-3
Shocks Green (5.4), Green (3.4). Might try Yellow Rear springs.
45wt front, 35wt rear.

Rest is setup like Porkchops setup, apart from im using Steering Option 3. Also im using stock pistons in shocks.

What to adjust?

Working on a shock setup for our local track and wanted to see what you guys would suggest. I run on a large 1/8th scale track with a lot of medium size jumps, a little blown out, and loamy.

I am currently running white rears, 8 hole conical pistons, 25% rebound w/40w and blue fronts, 8 hole conical pistons, 25% rebound w/35w.

Car feels pretty planted but seems to not handle the rough section as well as i would like. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

check your droops.

fronts we usually use greens and rear whites. 500 - 800 oil conical8 pistons.

our track is real rough with extremely high jumps and no landing ramps... so they need to dampen alot of hard hits.

Shocks I use 100% rebound 3 sec deploy time to full length.

Im using 8 hole conical front and rear.
Front: green springs/400cst
Rear: grey/green springs/300cst
That work perfect for me, when the track is bumpy.
Dont know about your running kick up in your front? But that will help your car a lot!.

What effect do the 8 hole conical pistons have compared to the stock ones?

Also can someone tell me what Shock Length at full droop means?

And what effect do the downstops have?

One more question, to lower ride height do you loosen or tighten the shock collar?

the new conical pistons are machined from delrin which is a self lubricating material with has much less surface resistance compared to molded plastic. the number of holes and hole diameter determines the pack and the dampening of the shock it self.

Shock Length at full droop: the length of your shock measured when the downstop screws are not engaging the chassis to change droop. this is usually the shock length but in some cases the normal length of the shock can be longer than the full droop length.

downstop adjustment allows you to limit how much your suspension travels downwards.

when the collar is closer to the top of the shock your ride height lowers... so you unscrew it to lower the car and screw in (downwards) to raise the ride height...

Hey guys what batteries can I run in the buggy? hard case or soft case. I wonder since some hard case battery cables come straight up instead of the front and I'm not sure they I will be able to close the battery "cage" with those connectors?
Thanks guys
