Yaaayyy!!!

I bought my kit last night! I have it spread all over the kitchen table......the kids are still in bed. I feel like it's Christmas morning!

I haven't built an off-road kit since my RC10 worlds edition.......1994?
Any tips for the build?

The first page has great build info... read up on how to build and check for a free driveline.

Those should be fine. Stock is 5x13.5x0.2mm. Those are 5x11.5x0.2mm. Currently I have some 5x8x0.2mm in mine (the outdrive pin is 8mm, so this is as small as I would go) and they seem to be doing OK, but a larger OD would definately help reduce wobble just a little bit more without causing binding.

I tried some .5mm shims, and some that claimed to be 0.2mm doubled up to get 0.4mm, but they ended up being closer to 0.25mm, and they were just too much....it felt like I had 100k oil in the diff, without even reassembling it. I have some 5x15x0.3mm Xray shims on order that I think will be just about perfect.

Will update once they arrive.

Any updates on the X-Ray 5x15x0.3 shims? I am looking for some myself. Really don't want to buy the diff kit just for shims.

1.How often do you replace the washers and diff gears?
2.What washers are you guys using for the diffs? Are you using the diff rebuild kit or have you found different washers?
3.My diff cups have some wear on them from the cv pins. When should you replace diff cups and cvs?

Anybody?

+1

Don't forget the build videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjHI3...feature=relmfu

Also just take your time and make sure you use the right screws in the right places.

I suggest that when you open each bag, sort all of the screws by length.

And never trust any pre-built parts of any kit, take apart the diffs and shocks and make sure the seals are slimed and any metal on metal parts have blue-loctite, and that you fill the oil to the setup you want to start out with.

I started with the Jang's setup on ultimate RC and now using yellow springs & sways up front and blue springs & sways in rear and have been tuning everything else around that.

does anybody know what page where i can find info on how they guys were making the chassis braces?

In the upper right hand corner of the user tabs, there is a icon that says "Search this thread". Using the words 'chassis brace' gave 186 results, some of them DIY, some built by users for sale, and that fastlaps piece.

AE domination last night! I TQ'd and won last night and actually put the field down a lap but then dumped after crossing the line so Symetricon got his lap back, looks like i am going to convert back to stick pack, since adding the Exo chassis my run times went down about 30seconds. Lots of losi's on the track and i actually had a good battle for the first few minutes with two losi's and Sym in the mix! I gotta say my truck is *&^%ing SICK!! unbelievable speed, superb handling and durable as hell, still on the first idler gear! i can put the truck where i want, there is an "s" section that will make or break your lap times and i could damn near full throttle through it, its where i made up most of my time. interesting thing is that i basically am running my same setup that i use for outside rough tracks with the exception of mounting the rear shocks outside on the rear arms. Besides that its all the same! Congrats to Sym, he has really stepped it up. also congrats to sourdiesel , he got there early yesterday and concentrated on his driving and it payed off with some good lap times and i think he finished mid pack for most of the day. he FINALLY got rid of that 4600 and traded for a pro4 4000.
The tables have turned as far as i am concerned, and i have another new product that will be release in about a week, all i will say is GAME OVER!!

All I can say is, I'll never look back after swapping over to the 4000kv, I should have listened sooner but was stubborn, lol. Mantis and Symm both convinced me and I finally listened and man, the 4000 was great, had some issues with traffic trying to lawn dart you in the turns on purpose but otherwise was great, lap times were greatly improved with each time out on the track. the 4600 is indeed just way to much power for our trucks, even with the exotek chassis I thought the added weight could off set the motors torque but it really didn't do much. the 4600 is truly a losi's motor and not an ae motor. It was a blast, I made every qualifier yesterday and then got taken out in the main but had a blast! Thanks Mantis and Symm for all the work y'all have done for me, you guys are true assets to the industry!
