KC, For Awesome and Roger's track, a 4.5 would be perfect as long as you have the traction. But indoors with higher traction clay, or even @ winchester on carpet, I would drop a tooth or 2 on the pinion. If its still too much maybe even back the timing off a little. Are you running the Tekin Setup?

Jerm my truck was junk at awesome. Didnt do anything right. Traction was terrible. Im gonna go to east coast hobbies for the winter. Wish I had the tekin system, I have the novak hovac pro sc with the ballistic 4.5

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, You got me..... I was like "What the....!?"
My truck is pretty freakin dialed, and the dual stage pistons are a definite foundation to my setup.

CraigMBA, 1700mh after 10 mins, what that a typo?

LOL mines almost dialed in, gonna add the pin mod soon and a brace...... Once thats done it should be planted on the track I run at and I should be able to run some very good lap times.......

Im gonna call firsteez on breaking a rpm rear a arm

and I also wore out my rear chassis to the point that the motor mount plate was showing through on the bottom.

I also got the tbone front bumper and it is bullet-proof. I put it through the ringer today. I was driving like an 1/8e buggy, in fact, beside a pro drivers at Mikes, i was putting a hurting on the nitro buggys in practice..... Until I broke my first idler gear:cry::cry::cry: then it was time to go home.

Also, my ACKbar steering rack is freakin SWEET!

I dig the bumper. I see you drive as hard as I do on the outdoor clay.

Currently I have been running a Murfdogg 6.5 on the local indoor track and don't have any issue with temps. I can run a complete pack and come off at 125.

This is all your fault! You are the whole reason I bought a 6.5 540 in the first place.

I put a fan in the chassis before I ever drove the truck, didn't fix it. Maybe I would of thermaled in 3 minutes instead of 5 without it.

No, that's correct.

Decoupled slipper, Novak 4.5 550, 12/62 gear, and the race win because the leader broke, but he was a second a lap faster than me. I had so little grip decoupled I can't use any more power than that.

With the pinned slipper I use more because I can gas it more.

I cant even wrap my head around that:weird: You must run a small tight track?
I am using 4500mah after 10min w tekin pro 4 4000/xerun 120amp esc, lap times in the mid to low 30s.... big straight, big jumps, high traction.

What are your speedo settings because temps are not an issue for me. Like I said at PRCR I can dump a pack and put another one in and keep going. I use the yeah racing 30mm fan. Seems to move the most air of the fans I have seen.

Novak Havoc SC Pro, no boost. When I ran it it was about 105. 15/62 thermaled it but quick. With 12/62 it made time but it was a slug. Oddly, it used more MAH than the 4.5 550, likely due to the fact I could gas it more with the 6.5.

I'm thinking about getting one of those ginormous fans I saw at the Reedy race and trying that. I'm not convinced the Novak fan I have is the hot ticket.

Lap times in the 18-19 second range depending on how much water was applied, no big straights, lots of small jumps. If the water isn't perfect, the top layer starts to break up coming out of turns, leaving some enormous ruts, soil is a sandy clay loam - great for farming almonds or grapes, but a real challenge to get the power down. My last "regular" track in the early 1990's was built on soil exactly like this, so I have a lot of experience on this sort of surface.

With the slipper decoupled, if you are on the power getting into the ruts (tough not to because they start right at corner exit), the rear end is totally squatted and when you get into the bumps it unloads the rear end and then it's "hang on".

Occasionally I run on a large, open high traction clay loam track that will blue groove if they stop watering it. The 4.5 is perfect there, uses about 3000 mah in ten minutes.

Yeah the Novak fan does not move the air of the yeah racing fan. There fan is about equal to 3 of the novak ones.

Right now I am running 15/93 with motor timing at -5. I use a Tekin RSPro in duel mode timing set at 70. The motor is one that Murfdogg built for me to run special for this truck. It does run a lot cooler than my 5.5 at zero timing with the same gear so could be something good might be going on. I'm just the driver, Murfdogg builds the motors. :D

It will pull the front off the ground so it has plenty of rip. I plan on testing more gear and speedo settings at the track tomorrow.
