You should be happy that there are people who just want to go race/play and have the money to drop on these things, otherwise you would be stuck working in an office or some other boring job like the rest of us.

I totally get where your coming from, I deal with that every day in the software industry, but if I couldn't sell my software to those who don't know or care about it, I wouldn't have the cash to drop the $600+ I've spent just on this truck so far.

I don't know about where you guys live, but I'm lucky to have a few tracks within a few hours of my house and I know those guys aren't making much if any money and are happy they get to do what they love everyday. Getting new blood/money into the hobby is a good thing, more people means more and bigger classes at the local races, more LHS's that can afford larger inventories, etc.

Katy. track was blown to say the least LOL. From what i saw of Mantis' truck it looks a lot less skittish, assume yours is same. Will have to wheel it soon. mine is maybe 80%? Want to get all i can out of it mostly stock then work from there.

if you are going to be at katy saturday for the turkey race, if so you can wheel mine. i will be there in full force smacking down courtney and the rest of them losi fools!! my truck is extremely fast and quick now. to me it looks more skittish than it really is, its tuned for on power and aggressive driving if you dont drive it that way its a handfull! id say its closer to Ebuggy than SC at this point. most dont like it for about 5 laps until you figure out that you cant pussy-foot around with it....GO GO GO! and thats what i didnt like about the stock setup is that you are forced to run lines instead of concentrating on traffic, if you get off line with my truck peg it and it follows wherever the front wheels are pointed, makes it great in traffic! on the vid that was more aggressive than i normally drive, but i was just proving a point!

I am still on my first belt, and I have had it since the first shipment.

A quick FYI for those who have ordered the ACKbar, the installation manual is posted up on http://www.rcshox.com/instructions/ackbar-installation/

Damn I love this truck!

Original belt from the kit running on high bite all summer. I just removed it to check it and it still looks great.

I did have a sun gear start skipping so I shimmed it out and all is good again.

shoot I've replaced mine about 2-3 times. I'm hoping I dont have a belt issue for a long time.

My diffs feel Clicky or nochy I don't know how to describe it. I can feel the individual teeth when I rotate it in my hand. Is this normal?

I made my truck transmission develop a clicking sound front and rear

how i did this was on the installation of the idler gear and main gear diff all you need to do is have one facing the wrong way ie

The following number sequence is how your gears should be installed in the gear case. if you don't install them right it will make a clicking noise because it won't aline where it is supposed to. ( won't be as free running as it should be)

1 top shaft in first

2 main gear diff with the flange facing in (same side as top shaft)

3 idler gear with the flange facing out (on the same side as the other gears )

this is something you might want to check and make sure you have them right

I have been racing on my same belt for the outdoor season and the beggining of this indoor season. Just took the belt off to check it for missing teeth etc. It is perfectly fine. But before a major race I will change the belt for the peace of mind

Double shimming the outdrives definatly helps with wobbly outdrives. it doesnt take all the slop away but helps.

Personally, i still think a 1 piece tub chassis, thats thicker than the stock chassis pieces, and molded with a more fiber enriched plastic would be ideal, along with molding the front and rear chassis braces out of the same fiber rich plastic. It would be stiffer than stock, and a little bit heavier, probobly like an oz, but still keep it light, which in reality is just better for racing IMO.

a brace that mounts on the front and rear trans like I did completely stops the flex. the chassis brace that mounts to the bulkheads does not stop the flex. end of story

Thanks!
However I do have the gears in right. The whateveness :) I am talking about happens when the diff rotates out (and inside) of the car. I can feel each tooth on the spider and sun gears. I just rebuilt the diff.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. It looked a lot less edgy last video I saw of it. It should play real well at Katy. Went to throw mine on setup station last night and I have a front axle with buggered threads. See if I can fix them today. FYI, look at weather forecast. Saturday not looking promising.
