I'm replacing my Havoc SC Pro system (Ballistic 550 4.5) with the MMP and pro4 4000. I'll have all pinons 12-15 to try out.

I've noticed that no one really seems to run smaller suprs than the 62, is there a reason for this? I was going to try 13/60 on the 4.5t but motor crapped out before I could try it.

I want the motor as far forward as possible. It's a weight bias thing for me...

Anyone try out the Proline SCT badlands yet? I got some in the mail, will probably use mostly in the backyard where it's mostly grass (for now).

While the pattern is a little extream, i've been looking for a good self-cleaning tire for when the GA red clay gets tacky. Eveything else I've tried so far just ends up getting clogged up and loses grip.

Traxxas planetary gear diff

The center gear is the sun gear and the smaller outer gears are the planets. The main difference between spider and planetary diffs are the beveled/angled vs not beveled/angled.

Okay I know planetary gear like in a a car automatic transmission and spider gears like in the rear end inside the "pumpkin". Now showing a picture of a Traxxas diff will not help me. And the sc10 4x4 manual shows only the rebuild kit part # for every dang part inside. I know everyone has described in where I am supposed to shim but sorry if I seem dense but there are a number of places a washer can be placed inside the diff. Can someone please provide a pic or hand drawn diagram. Anything to pin point exactly. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Ok, here ya go. There are 4 planet/spider gears in the diff. There are 2 sun/side gears in the diff.

Put a shim under 1 or both sun/side gears. There is already a shim under neath the pin, add 1 more shim.

Look at page 8-9 in the manual.

Can someone help advise me, my local track allows only specific motors and I'm not sure which to buy. I'm torn between a Tekin sc4x 5.5 and a Pro4 3300 (both allowed at this track) but which would be a better (faster) motor for all around (competetive if I go to other tracks).

If and when I open up my diff to do this I'll take pics and do a little write up. I need someone to tell me what shims they're using.

Well the pro 4. But if you cannot get a higher kv rating than get the sc4x. But if you can get a higher kv rating either the 4000 or 4600 is a good choice.

They only allow the 3300kv pro4, but they allow any 5.5 turn 550

What specific motors are allowed?

The tekin is a 550 size motor at 4000kv.

The Pro4 is a 540 size motor at 3300kv.

I'm curious as to what motors are allowed and why?

I'd say the 550 5.5 would be more versatile/better, due mostly to the higher kv....
