rear transmission bind.

My kit for some odd reason came with ALL the problems listed in this thread, except for a free front transmission.
The rear tranny was binding badly no matter what i did following tips here.
1 the rear suspension mount screws made a bump in the chassis hitting the case. manual calls for 14mm changed to 12mm
2.the rear shock tower made deep indentation on the case(by the threaded insert), binding the diff bearings.

Clearing the tolerance of the two made the rear transmission as free as the front.

Both trucks run LRP speed controls and motors, the SPX8 in the 4X4, and the SXX in the 2WD, Spectrum recievers in both , the savox 1258 in the 2WD , and a 1015 in the 4WD. i love these trucks.

A 2m ball end driver is most helpful when installing the pinion gear ....

That is a good tip I had the same problem when changing pinion gears. Ended up using an allen wrench. Have not done that sense 1988.

Sweet! Thanks Salad. Can't wait to see the test run videos. On a side note, who sings the reggae cover of that Pink Floyd song in the video? I love it.

What about the STRC ones for hyper and jamming trucks?

wish it was a little easier to work on. factory stripped a screw in the rear diff. left it at first just to get the truck built. an hour to remove the diff and replace the screw and oil (wich was nothing but a coating). in the process I striped the head off the lower motor mt screw. the chassy seem to get in the way so a good hex driver can't get straight on. just something to watch out for.

have you played with shock settings and diff fluids? Think sway bars will cure it? I primarily run on loam, and secondarily run on a harder packed surface.

Torrential downpour all last night and more rain today = mad rush to order and build my truck for today's first season race was all for nothing. Typical. :(

At least I got it painted with a clean simple paint scheme...

I installed a Savox 1258 on mine, does anyone use a Savox and if so does it make an anoying buzzing noise.

DRRC 05-15-2011 09:11 AM

Had some runtime on it last nite. Had 10 front 5 rear diff set up with clicker on track was rough 1/8 outdoor
Truck handled well but was too twitchy with the clicker on
Clicker use is for fast sweeping tracks where you are on throttle most of the time to pull the truck around
Was more consistent with clicker off

Other sc10 4wd did better
Had 50 front 5 rear with clicker off and sway bars front and rear
He was running faster consistent times than mine due to the unpredictability of the clicker in the midfield turns

Stock shock setup is ok but might remove bladder and see if it can soak up the bumps better

Overall a very fast truck, turns on a dime and jumps well

Compared to the b44sc the sc104wd is very stable but the conversion dives into and shoots out of turns faster
Still need a few set up changes but this thing will be a contender

JEFFs SC10 05-15-2011 09:20 AM

with clicker off does that mean its in full time 4 wd or no?

hondafixer 05-15-2011 09:26 AM

anyone using any other swaybar kits? or any idea when they will be out? I didnt like the fact that its an option when every other truck comes with them, but oh well

It's full time 4wd with the clicker on or off under acceleration. During decel, with the clicker loosened up, the front is allowed to slip (click) so the truck can turn in more like a 2wd.

All digital servos make buzzing noise of some sort as they try to obtain and maintain the center.

McKleroy 05-15-2011 09:36 AM

How good are the 540 can motors running this truck?
