Although the Durango is fast and agile, I have witnessed several at my local track break front a-arms. By no means would I let that hold me back from getting one, if I could afford it. I am pretty sure it needs a good amount of upgrades to get near bullet-proof status.

getting this truck soon, how would the castle mamba max pro sct work in it?

Actually, the proper way is to put enough fluid in the diff to just cover the cross bars (about 75-80% full) not 100% full.

That kind of is 100% full....once you put the rest of the diff back together, the sun gear fills in most of that upper void...

If you're on a budget and don't want to squeeze any excess out, then sure, I will agree with this because once the top sun gear presses into the diff enclosure, that's about how much fluid will be left....but I still would rather waste some oil than have big air bubbles in my diff....air doesn't provide the same resistance that oil does! I will even go so far as to work some oil in underneath the sun gear attached to the side of the diff that comes off...

With the 1415? I cant speak from personal experience, but it seems that the 24ookv motor may be difficult to get top end speed unless geared to the moon, or ran on 3s.
Im running the hobbywing 2c10 esc and have switched between the castle 1410 to the TENSHOCK SC401 4000kv motor. The speedo can be bought for around 60-70$ and is ROCK SOLID. Both motors perfom well, but the SC401 has a smoother powerband. IMO

Bashing - yes!

Racing - TOO MUCH!

The ESC is a great ESC for this truck...but that 1415 motor is overkill...the 1410 is more than enough, even for a huge 8th scale track.

Just to make sure I am understanding correctly. You are saying its better to fill the diff all the way up with diff fluid, and then when you tighten the other side of the diff down it lets the excees fluid out. Instead of letting air in the diff?

Chad Smith 06-29-2011 02:20 PM

Also, when you fill the diff up with fluid is it a good idea to move the gears around and make sure the fluid is applied everywhere, and not just sitting in the middle of the diff before you tighten down the other side of the diff?

Will the hitec 645mg servo work for the sc10 4x4?

nougat 06-29-2011 03:06 PM

I always thought you fill the diff up to the top of the gears (not the cross bars, which are a little lower). Always remember to spin the gears a little before you close it up, because the air underneath the gears comes up and the fluid level drops.

Not being a smartass...anything will work, but will it work good. At .2 speed and 133 torque, it seem slow and weak. I like .1 or faster and a minimum 150 torque in my 2wd SC. I have the DS1015 in my 4x

Anyway... thinking about trying a Durango SC, anyone have one and wants to trade?

I like the way the AE drives, Best I've driven, the Durango is the only truck I haven't tried.

Raced against a Durango this past Sunday. My AE SC10 4x4 blew the Durango's doors off through the tighter sections of the track. I could turn in under him just about anywhere I wanted too, and still had great traction and forward bite out of the turns.

WOW!!!!!!

I finally got a chance to put this truck on the track today. Just like everyone else on here I was very impressed at how easy it was to drive. I drove it on an indoor tight med grip track. I currently have Cavalieri's OCRC setup on it with the exception of his tire choice. I'm running JC green barcodes on all 4, MMP w/Orion Race V2 6.5T. I played around with the slipper a little and before long I was able to get it to do and go wherever I wanted it to. "Loving It"
