So someone shared a pic off instagram of an sc104x4 with the front belt removed and deemed a MM 2WD SC.

I think Shark413 did a 2wd conversion of his SC104x4 at one point, pics and info I think on the specific rc short course board.

I've been out the hobby for 2 years and am confused.

So what's up with the sc10 4x4 belt driven one being discontinued?!? All they have now is 2 rtr shaft driven ones.

Why was it discontinued? Are they still making parts for it?

The FT SC10 4X4 was my first 4X4. Been running it for a year now. Have not broke one part as of yet..... Knock on wood!!!!

Now if I could get the rear end to hook like the front it would be a slot car!!!!

Being a 2WD buggy guy trying to dial out steering......... Well that's new.... and

Brandon Breh, there are parts for it on the AE site and my Local hobby shop has quite a bit on the shelves and what they don't have they have been able to order for me. I also have an RC10T3, and this was discontinued well over 10 years ago, but I have had luck getting parts from my hobby shop and the one or two parts that they can't find I can get from ebay, amazon or other various online sites. But to be on the safe side, I have stocked up on parts that I think may break in the future for the SC10 4x4. As to why it was discontinued, I am not too sure, it seems that AE never really backed this one, just when it first came out, then it kind of fell by the way side and was relegated to "red headed step child" duties.

This

A shame really, it could have had some good potential but they probably felt it wasn't worth it relative to the competition to the class and the cost.

So I have decided to use a shorty lipo turned sideways at the front of the chassis for better weight distribution.

However, the chassis wasn't meant to secure the battery in this position so I have someone creating one out of aluminum and I would like to see how others accomplished this.

Brandon,
Much research on this issue derived primarily from this and other forums resulted in the following main reasons for lower perception of the sc10 4x4 and its cancelation by AE, none of which bother me or many others:
-Lack of weight (later 4x4 racers got beefy and on certain tracks could really push the AE around, and the lighter weight leads to different or less performance on certain types of tracks)
-Lack of a center diff (can be added, search this thread)
- Belt Drive (whatever, I think its great, and many have had no issues for years)

For me, the sc10 4x4 ft presents a great value right now if you are just checking out the 4x4 scene. Used rollers can be had inexpensively and generally sellers have additional parts. All the same electronics and batteries will transfer over to something if you decide you like 4x4 and it is not as competitive. I just haven't found a better price point for this level of quality and I think the performance is great. Also, people cite the need for adjustment to this truck as a negative, but personally I love that. The multitude of adjustments and tinkering is why I am in the hobby. I guess if your not into that, this truck (and this hobby) may not be for you.

I am not an expert, these opinions are just based on what I have read and experienced in my relatively meager time in this hobby.

did you install the new shims in your diffs?

My initial impression is that if you didn't, call AE and have then send out some diff shims to you.
