Never implyed you or anyone else couldn't drive..you missed the point, it's all about watching your truck not about driving it..it's hard to really watch how the suspension is working and concentrate on driving..you guys should chill a bit..didn't say or imply anyone couldn't drive, just said that you want someone who can wheel drive your truck..can't learn much if your buddy is crashing or overdriving..right..try it you might be suprised..

Yes, I've seen a lot of light losi on my local track. Especially we are mostly racing on small indoor track this summer, and the A main here is pretty much a losi fest.

However, with the 550 motors on 4wd short course trucks these days, weight is not a very important issue.
somehow I am using exotek locked front clutch with a very loose clutch setting (work as a loose center diff but less efficient), and it's still pushing quite a bit.

I believe the main issue with this truck is the front/rear weight distribution, for 4wd off road, heavier front helps a lot.
Perhaps lighter rear makes the rear less likely to slide around out of control, thus you can push the throttle hard much earlier.

*Tried a friend's losi last weekend, so relaxing to drive. Just push the throttle hard out of the corner and the truck goes.
SC10 4x4 is quite like a 2wd buggy, you need to make sure the rear is tamed and the truck is pointed to the right direction, then you can start pushing harder. Pushed a bit too early, or the corner exit direction went a bit wrong, you may phrase the god and your correction went smooth and just right.

The thing losi guys are worrying about is the hard braking after a long straight, the tail is too light that it will lift off the ground and come out easily.
My SC10 however, with 8mm mod and locked front clutch, is now very stable, if not too stable, under the braking. (can't kick the tail out in some low speed hairpins)

My truck isn't setup like that now and I know what I changed to make it good so lets see if your right :) (Not you craig, anybody who wants too.)

Rear end bucks around a lot. Lighter rear spring? Or same spring heavier oil?

Lighter spring ;)

I understand 100%....seriously..you should read a few pages of the SCTE thread..its chassis over there....I'm still tryin different center diff set-ups..but it's all good..

yeah, the scte thread is full of chassis issues and breakage. All we have is a diff discussion. We could talk about the 8mm mod again.....

8mm mod - higher the rear roll center -> rear end more stable under braking & less stable under power.
with 8mm mod - inner spacer can be 0-7mm, more spacer height -> lower roll center -> rear end less stable under braking, more stable under acceleration.

that's it...

center diff - screw it... together with high CoG and rear weight bias, it's cheaper to buy another truck...

Wildcat1971 08-14-2012 02:33 PM

lol
