whats everyone's take on 8th scale shocks on the truck?

murky123 05-23-2012 06:01 AM

the SC10 4x4 own shocks are the best in the buisness. I do not see the need for 8th scale shocks

I have been pleased with the ft shocks so far. I am running mine emulsion style and they soak everything i give them.

well i have a chance to get the older kit before ft edition pretty cheap, but it has serpent 8th scale shocks instead of the blue kit shocks.

A full set of shocks on eBay go for about $58..that's new. And on the "good" price..make sure it's in good condition or that "deal" will escalate into screwed quickly..check for wobbly diffs, warped a arms, worn/damaged CVD's..

I bought the GensAce 6000 saddles, but they did not fit the FT SC10 4x4, they pushed up on the belt cover, so I sold them. It is true that GensAce only has 25c in saddle packs.

Aren't these the same size as the hyperion saddle packs? Reason I ask is that I use the 6000mah Hyperion saddle packs and they work well and I don't have them pushing up against the tunnel at all, but I don't run any foam or anything under them on the chassis.

I don't think anyone has really used them from what I have read as the stock shocks when working work really well.

I have noticed no performance gains from the factory team shocks..the "stock" blues work great..it doesn't take long to get the diff wobble or warped a arms..but I was just tryin to help..I bought an SC10 in similar condition (I was told 2-3 months of use) but it was not in person and in photos the truck looked pretty good..got it and it had 2 bad diffs and warped a arms..and worn out shock shafts..I would have been better off buying a new one..

WC - are you saying that the geometry in the new FT kit has changed slightly from the original (standard) kit??? I was (ignorantly) unaware of this.

I bought the sc10 4x4 kit when it first came out a year ago and had it driving very nicely by putting 4mm spacers under the front inside camber studs, and 6mm under rear inside camber studs (along with a few other mods).

If the geometry has changed, are these spacers no longer 'suggested' on the new FT model???

I have the outside camber position mod (#9873 Carbon C Hub) part on order, do I need to raise the inside rear stud 7mm if using this part, as mentioned a few pages back?

Only if
using the rear 8mm mod will change the basic geometry..

Carbon C hub mod installed as shown will raise the ball stud 8mm .

use 7mm of shims under the inside ball stud on the rear tower.

for the rear 8mm mod, is anyone using those Hot Racing rear carriers and then doing the mod? If so, got pics?

leaky shock

any recommendations for fixing a leaky shock that is leaking from the bottom cap?

Replace X-rings...

Make sure the end of cartridge seal tube is installed with tapered side pointed to top...

Use O ring #6469 above shock cartridge....
