Not sure about the trinity motor but 12/40 seems pretty low for gearing. Is there any motor end bell timing? Do you have any drag brake dialed into the ESC?

he is having heat problems, going up in gearing will only make it worse

yes, but to low of a gear will also cause heat problems. it can go both ways

start checking bearings and make sure your diffs are smooth. check the bearings in your motor too. any one of them could be going bad

So I have yet another TEN-SCTE up and running. Nothing special to look at, as it seems to be basically what everyone else is running, maybe a few tiny differences

Losi TEN-SCTE, Losi TLR tuning kit, Tekin RX8, Tekin Pro4 4600, Hitec HS-7955TG servo, Airtronics/Sanwa MT-4 w/ telemetry.

I am coming from a mostly stock Slash 4x4, so this should be an awesome truck to race. I'm so stoked.

A couple questions now that it actually runs.

1. I always hear slight ticking noises coming from the steering servo when I am not even doing anything. Very very minor adjustment it is doing? Is this normal?

this is your servo trying to find dead center, its normal

2. How far should the throw be left to right on the steering? The servo all the way one way then the other is a set thing that I cannot increase beyond what it is capable of (ie when it was off and I was aligning it for center I knew the max left and max right, but once in the Losi, it doesnt go to max either way completely).

on your radio set your EPA to 100%
take your servo horn off and turn the truck on and let your servo fine dead center and then screw the horn back on, and set your EPA

3. I used the stock arm that came on the losi. I took off the one on the servo and used that yellowish adapter (servo saver is that?) and then just hooked it up as you see in the pics. Is that correct or should I be using a longer arm thing?

if your talking about the servo horn the stocker will work, but aluminum upgrades with more holes is better to tweak how fast your wheels respond

4. No need for the receiver on/off switch right? I just use the one on my RX8 and all seems good to go

correct, your RX8 controls your power to the truck

5. RX8 doesnt seem to like to do reverse sometimes? I stop, say reverse and I see all the lights blink at once (when on max reverse) yet it wont go, then I try again or twice, and it does. Some adjustment?

this is normal, the RX8 will have a pause and a slight delay before you can hit reverse. This is usually on by default to keep you from stripping out drive train. I would leave it alone, but you can turn it off to an instant reverse on your RX8

And now some Losi TEN-SCTE pr0n.

sweet looking ride

I use heat sink/fan/thermal compound on motor, it helps alot to reduce heat.

I run the Trinity 550 4.5t motor geared at 12/40 using a LRP Sphere TC Spec and temps around the 160 to 170 range, small, indoor track. Got a different ESC to try?
