So what is the best 2s motor at this point now that people have some racing in... I guess I'll stick w/ a tekin or novak 550 in hopes that is how the rules go (roar etc). I'm starting w/ a castle MMp esc and we are limited to 2s lipo at most.

Will be racing on a pretty big outdoor 1/8 scale track.

Thanks..

I have a few spare losi metal geared 140oz .18 servo's about.. think these would do the job ok? I go for 190+ in my 1/8 buggy, but this is a bunch lighter.

the novak motor and mmp do not work well together you will always have issues with that combo.I recomend going with the Tekin.withthe tekin you have the option to run a sensored or non sensored ESC with the novak you can not run un sensored

I guess I can pick btw the team epic 550 and the tekin 550, just need to know the best kv for 2s setups.. will roar have limits?

IMO, the 4.5 is the only motor anyone should look to if limited to 2s. The 5.5's were fine in the lighter, poorer handling trucks, but this one needs, and can utilize, the extra hp. The 4.5's on 2s is not even close to overpowering this truck.

it all depends on what you want to do.Ive had a 4.5 and now a 5.5 the 4.5 was great all around and it was super fast. the 5.5 not quite as fas but it has more launching power.the 4.5 can only be run on 2s which is a little limited for my liking the 5.5 can be run on 3s and geared down and you can get 26 min of runtime out of a 5200 pack.the 5.5 on a 5000 2s pack gets about 18 min the 4.5 on the same pack gets 10min so it is all about what you want to do.

Being limited to 2S to be ROAR legal, I'm running the RX8/SC4X 4.5 combo.

And on an Unfortunate Note, That wasn't the only problem the Dingo's were having with their Proto's.

and I will choose the 5.5 on 2s ...longer run times runs cooler and easier to drive clean. Like I said, it is all about what YOU want

If it's a smaller track, I just turn it down on the radio.

10 min mains won't be a problem on 5000mah I don't think. Well on small/medium sized, big tracks yeah I'd be screwed.

You better gear that thing to dog turd slow if you plan on getting 10 minutes....

Personally....I can't even come close....perhaps I just drive harder than most.

It would be in everyones best interest to get at least one big battery for your mains....like an 8000mah or so. I've lost several with this truck because I dumped a 6000mah in 10 minutes with zero warm up laps Just not worth it to throw away a whole race day because you went cheap on batteries.

Guess I'll go w/ the 4.5 tekin, the 5.5 is only 800kv less so w/ the 4.5 geared down she'll have the same run time easily, but gear it up when the run isnt a concern for the race. I remember back when I had a hyper sc, I was running the medusa 4pole 4800kv 50mm motor and it was perfect, so I think this is a good choice. Decided to get another hitec 985mg and going with a nice set of enduro's for outdoor racing. I'll chew up the stockers on the indoor carpet offroad track if they run a class. This hitec is nice.. doesn't suck as much juice up as the savox and some of the others... that have been mentioned, every little bit helps

I've been loving the CC 1410... For how small it is, it's been faster than any of the 4.5 cans I tried (The SP V10 is very close). We also ran the 1415 on 3S today at the track, started 11t and could have used a 13T for more strait speed.

I also have the Tekin 5.5 and have ran both 2 and 3S, it's works awesome on 3S, 2S also works fine but I had more fun on 3S .

Check out the size and weight on a few different motors. I would recommend the 1410 all day.

After 8 minutes of racing with the 1410

Hard to believe that little Castle motor is faster than the Novak, but it is.

I was going for this motor myself.. but I'm afraid roar isn't going to allow it from the sounds of it. They should stay out of this class for motor limits.. limit battery and the rest falls in line.

Yeah probably. I'm pretty easy on the throttle though. I'm not one of those WOT guys every chance they get.
