Really. I read the specs as being able to handle 5C input rates so I charge them at that. As it was explained to me, LiPos have advanced significantly to be able to accept higher rates than even a few years ago.

Reason why you are using lower rates? 1C must take a long time for a 5000mAh battery.

It depends on the battery brand. Some say 1C to 2C max, and some say 5C max. I would look to see what the manufacturer recommends.

You can charge lipos as what the manufacturers say....but charging at 5C definitely will shorten the life span of your battery....as batteries has different charging rates I always charge at 1C for maximum life but in a jam you definitely can charge at higher C's to battery spec.

This is exactly why I charge at 1C. I'm in no big hurry, so why not charge them at a rate that will maximize the batteries useful life.

If you're in a hurry to charge multiple batteries, you can always parallel charge them.

I usually get close to 20 minutes out of my 5000mah Gens Ace.

battery life is track and driving style dependent. I have seen plenty of people get 20 minutes + on a 5000mah 4S, and others on the same setup get 12 minutes.

I've had 3 and never had a problem with any of em. I think with a few exceptions the majority of failures is due to user error or abuse. Don't kid yourself, mambas fail too!

So after a few cycles the GensAce looks much closer in cell gap. However discharging below 3.7v they really start to lose voltage cohesion. Now I set my cutoff to 3.8v so it isn't much of an issue, but I do wonder if that is normal.

And duly noted on the charge rate, I thought that new batteries were more flexible wrt lifetime/charge rates. And I just got the new charger and 24v of power. Guess its time for more mAh batts!

I've had an RX8 for a little while, and no problems with mine. You're going to see failures regardless of brands, but the RX8s did seem to be problematic a year or so ago. I think they've worked out most of the bugs since then.

That said, I know Gregg has an issue with his that will hopefully be taken care of by Tekin this week.

They should have gotten mine on Wednesday. I keep forgetting to call though. I'll check on it tomorrow, if I remember. I'm not sure what happened to mine. I did talk to a guy at the track last weekend that was very familiar with them he's been running the 3 he has ever since they upgraded to the 3 hole case, and hasn't had a problem. And I've seen him out that the track every weekend and he races all day. He was telling me the older cases didn't hold the 2 boards together that are inside well. The new case apparently has some supports built into the bottom of the case that keep the 2 boards from separating inside the case. He said the older cases allowed the 2 boards to unplug from each other. And when that plug gets loose with power applied it that smokes the boards. So most of the failures were apparently caused by this older style case allowing the boards to come apart. The new case is supposed to hold these boards together tight.
