Default Minor flip over

So I was doing some speed runs yesterday with my new 20T robinson gear and street tires and I am very pleased. However, I flipped it once and it slid like four feet. I scratched up the front shock tower and 2 front shock caps. They are all scraped up and she is not pretty anyome now (this makes me angry!!) Is there any way to "paint" or buff these out? I knew I should only run her on the track but you know how it is I'm sure!

I think i remember several pages back someone talking about finding a paint that was very close to the AE blue but i cant recall the details. For what its worth flipping it on the track results in the same scratches, i know from experience!

So basically it's just the nature of the beast to scratch things? Anyone else agree? Any ideas on this?

I remember reading that too. It was some cheap color from dollar general or the 99 cent store. Dont remember the details either though.

Sure, if you don't want to do any custom settings. If the default settings work for you, then you probably won't need it. It's only $30, so it's not expensive or anything. I'm glad I have mine.

This thread moves so damn fast i cant keep up with it. I dont look at it for a day and its advanced 10 pages. There were comments i wanted to reply to that now seem a lifetime ago! I will chime in on the balancing of the car and tires. Ive been racing offroad for a while now and never balanced my car for perfect weight distribution front to back and side to side. There are so many variables in off-road racing that can completely negate having a balanced car that IMHO i dont think its worth the effort or cost of the scales. My car jumps perfectly flat and straight and if someone elses car doesnt i think its more a result of driving style and/or how they approach and launch off the jump. Onroad racing is another beast entirely and i think a balanced car is a must since an unbalanced track is removed as a variable. Now balancing tires is another story. I think there are huge benefits to be had here as others have already stated. Less abuse and wear on the drivetrain, suspension, bearings, etc. A smoother ride should also make it easier to drive faster, harder into and out of the turns.

I also wanted to say something about the LRP speed control. If i remember correclty i recall reading that it only runs in sensored mode all the time which creates a great deal more heat in the motor. If for no other reason i think that is a good enough reason to avoid it.

If it makes you feel any better, your shock tower and caps and rear wing are protecting your body!! i ran short course for a long time and you go thru bodies like crazy since they take all the abuse! I would be willing to bet the cost of replacing your shock tower and caps from time to time is less than replacing bodies as often as i did racing short course.

Not sure, 29.95 for tower and 19.99 for caps. But yes I know what you mean.

Im on a roll here, dont stop me now.

Hotwire is not all that intimidating. I think i have a pretty good grasp of all the adjustments. I will be glad to help anyone who has specific questions.

ya but a body is $25-30 and then you still need to paint it. if i get one of the local painters at my track to do something custom for me its $40. im not saying replace a tower everytime it gets a little scratch on it, but if it bothered you that much you could replace it every few months or so.

It probably doesn't make much of a difference on an off road car like these, but having 50/50 cross weights helps ensure that the car turns left equally as well as it turns right. You probably don't want 50/50 weight distribution front/rear, but 50/50 left/right would be nice, but not essential, I wouldn't think.

Thats what im talkin about!! If its too clean, you aint using it!

What to you think about that 2250 motor? i put one in my SC8e and i cant believe how ridiculously fast it is! i debated long and hard with myself between the 2000kv and the 2250kv and went with the 2250 since the truck would serve as a basher and i figured the more speed the better. Well i know now the 2000kv would have been more than sufficient, the 2250 is a beast!! Keeps a huge smile on my face though!

I suppose in theory you may be right but this car has such a tight turning radius and corners so well that i still say its unnecessary. Have you ever felt like it turns worse one way over the other due to being unbalanced?
