When you say timing do you mean timing on the motor, or advanced timing and or boost in the esc? I don't see why you would need timing/boost with an 8.5 in a buggy? Other than the normal 30+/- degs. on the motor.

With an 8.5 motor, no timing is needed in the speedo or the motor. If you can find out what setting would be 0 timing in your motor, use that. It WILL be plenty fast for most applications using 81/23 gearing.

Yes its really speaker wire from walmart but before you guys buy it and re-wire your speedos there some things to know...It is 14 gauge and used to alter the power of brushless/lipo-you will need to drop 1-2 winds from the motor to get a similar feel that your use to. I have it in my 2wd and dropped to a 7.5 from and 8.5 but what I got was the speed of a 7.5 but with a much smoother power delivery. Its a very useful tuning option and definately looks way cool but for most situations standard wire is the way to go. Also running that wire comes with increased amount of heat to the speedo so thats something to think about as well. Usually when BK runs it you see it accompanied with a speedo with a fan. Hope this helps.

3 dot -5*
2 dot 0*
1 dot +5*
0 dot +10 degrees
The X12 in mod should usually be run with 4 dot and maybe 3 dot but usually dont see 2 dot as it just raises temps and you dont see a benefit from the extra RPM's.
From what i recall the X12's had higher standard timing than some other manufacturers hence the -10* setting, I think it is like 35* timed out and most others start at 25-30* at least i think thats right

I say start with 4 dot and see how you like it
And like Brian mentioned above going to 14 ga from the normal lrp 12 ga will reduce power a bit with the increased resistance so if you liked the speed you had before you need to add a turn if you felt it was too fast for you before going to 14ga may get you the feel you were looking for

Can these diffs just not handle high power? On my second gear diff and it's doing the same thing. Makes a weird noise when you put more load on any side. It's a planetary gear inside the diff not making proper/full contact with the smaller/middle gears inside the diff. Is there any fix to it?

what does that correlate to in timing? and is that on the motor or esc?
