pfft, everyone knows that having the ESC sideways causes to much drag and makes the cars slower.

Dude IT DOES NOT MATTER. In your case I would turn it and route the wires through the rear shock lower hole in the shock tower just to relieve some strain on the wires. Since you have the bullets on there you really don't have to worry about having to grab a soldering iron if you need to remove the shock tower.
