I was recommended the reedy sonic or d3.5 motors and I personally went with the d3.5 from expressed motors and I have nothing else but pros to say about this motor. I guess it really depends on which brand you want, cause the d3.5 are made by made sub companies.
I was rocking the Express Motorsports 17.5 at 36/69 tonight. Seemed to run great at 160 ish. Of course, it has a rotor the size of a trashcan in it .

Most sensored brushless motors have timing as well, so yes even in stock class there is timing added via the motor which is adjustable..........
I think they are German made.

just finished my worlds car. Do the shock springs run the shock bodies pretty bad or did I do something wrong?
The stock ones do. Now days everyone is running big bore springs on their small bore shocks. The BB springs don't rub at all and are generally considered to make the car more consistent.
I was shopping for a new motor and noticed all the popular motors are more expensive than everything else, except for maybe the Tekin gen2. I settled on a Hacker 17.5. Lesser known brand for cars, but quality stuff. Motor is really smooth, is light, has the cut outs on the can, and adjustable timing. Not bad for $84.95. I ran it for practice yesterday, and found it had plenty of power, and stayed really cool. No i have nothing to do with the company. Just like to share when i come across something worth trying.

Some people run the stock springs, there is a way to grind them so they don't rub. Very easy to do with a dremel, it just takes a little time. It is easier with the lighter springs than with the firm ones. Once you get to the silver spring and higher it gets harder. You usually only need to do this to the rears.

For the money you cant beat the AE springs. I would pick up the soft set for the front (comes with brown, black and green) as well as green and white for the rear. I believe a popular combo is green front and rear.
